Charlie Condell, an 18-year-old boy, has finished bike trip around the world in just 318 days. He became the youngest British person to bike around the world.

To set a round-the-world biking trip record (纪录), a person must start and end in the same place and ride about 24,900 miles (40.072 kilometers). They are allowed to fly and take boats, but they must finish most of the trip on bikes.

Last July, Charlie left his home in Bristol, England. He was taking a year off before going to college and he liked the idea of the challenge (挑战) .

He loved his bike, and he named it “Colin”. Colin was very light, which made it easier for Charlie to put in long days with lots of miles. Some days Charlie rode as many as 125 miles (200 kilometers).

Charlie had many hard times. He didn’t have anyone travelling with him to help him. He carried his own gear (装备) and camped out most nights. He had to deal with rain, wind, bad drivers, and countless flat tyres (漏气的车胎) . He says the trip taught him to believe in himself.

Charlie posted many pictures and notes of his trip on a website to record the trip, which shows a young man having the time of his life. He also made friends all along the way.

After biking over 11.000 miles (17.700 kilometers) through Europe, Asia, and Australia, something bad happened. He woke up one morning to find that his bike and all of his gear had been stolen (被偷) . Charlie posted his story on the Internet. He soon had new clothes and a new bike with people’s help. He was on his way again.

Charlie went on his trip. Finally, on March 11, before his birthday, he returned to Bristol, England, where he started his trip nine months earlier.

Charlie will start college in the fall. For anyone planning to take on their own challenge, Charlie tells them. “Just step out of the door and keep on going till you’ve made it.”

Jack's family live in America. He takes some Chinese lessons at his school and he is very interested in China. He thinks that China is so far from America and is so different. He always thinks how the Chinese people live every day.

Then he comes to Beijing with some of his friends. He sees many Chinese people in the streets. They are very kind and good to him. So he often tries to ask them some questions in Chinese.

"Excuse me，what's this in Chinese？"or" Excuse me，can you show me the way to the bus stop？”Most people answer him kindly.

But sometimes some people don't understand（懂）what he says and can only shake（摇）their heads. And sometimes Jack doesn't understand what the Chinese say and this time he can only shake his head.

In Beijing, Jack visits many beautiful places and he is very happy. He is in Beijing for two weeks and then he goes to Xi' an and Shanghai for three weeks.

When he comes back to America, he tells his parents and friends about his wonderful visit in China. And he says he loves China and he wants to go to China again.

Traveling by subway can sometimes be a challenge, especially during rush hour. You have to fight your way into the carriage (车厢), and keep away from others' hot water. The smells of some passengers' food are very strong, too.

Since April, the local government of Beijing has collected public opinions on the new Beijing Subway Passenger Rules. The rules say that if passengers have bad manners while on the subway, they will end up with bad credit (信用) scores or even being refused by the subway. Four kinds of behavior were added to the new rules. They include stealing others' seats, eating or drinking, handing out advertisements, and not paying for the tickets.

As for eating and drinking on the subway, (1)不同的人有不同的观点. Some people support the rules that all passengers except babies and people with certain health problems are not allowed to eat or drink on the subway. (2)They have pointed out that the smell of food and drink can make other passengers unhappy.

However, others question this rule, saying that drinking water should be allowed (3) ________ people can get thirsty after long rides on the crowded subway.
