Hello! My name is Ann. I’m thirteen years old. I’m a student. My father is a doctor. He works at a hospital. My mother works at a school. She teaches English.

Today I don’t have classes, so I go out for a picnic with my parents. And we take some nice food and drink with us. Apples are my favourite.

In the morning, my father and mother cook some food. I help them with it. The food is very good and I like it very much. In the afternoon, I fly a kite with my father. My mother reads her books. At 3:00, we go shopping. Mother buys a red skirt for me. At 5:30, we go home and have dinner. We have a nice day!

John works hard but he is still poor. He is very sad all day. One day when he comes home from work, he sees his daughter in the living room. She is playing with a roll（卷） of colourful wrapping paper（礼品包装纸）, John gets angry.

“Where is the paper from?” John asks.

“I bought it with my pocket money.” the girl answers.

“You won’t get money from me any more!”John says and goes into his room.

A few days later, it’s Christmas Day. The girl brings a little box in colourful paper to her father and says, “Dad, this is for you.”

The father is surprised to see the colourful box. He feels sorry for his anger that day. He touches the girl’s head and opens the box. He becomes angry again when he finds nothing inside.

“Why is it empty? Are you playing a trick on me?” the angry father asks.

“No, Dad. It’s not empty. I put many kisses in the box. All for you, Dad.”

John has nothing to say. He puts his arms around his little girl and says, “Sorry, my dear. Please forgive（原谅） me.”

From then on, John always keeps the box beside his bed. When he feels sad, he will take a kiss out of the box and remember the love of his child.

Helen Keller was born in 1880. She was a healthy baby. The first year of her life was normal. One day, she had a very high fever. She got really sick. She lost her sight. She also lost her hearing. She was blind and deaf. She could not hear. She could not see. She could not talk to people. Helen was very angry.

Helen’s family needed help. They hired（聘请） a teacher. Anne Sullivan became Helen’s teacher. She taught her new words. She also taught Helen to speak when Helen was six years old. She felt Anne’s lips when she talked. Then Helen copied Anne. Anne was not always easy to understand. However, Helen never gave up.

Helen worked hard. She grew to be an amazing woman. She went to college for further study. She wrote books. She traveled the world. She did not let anything stop her. She shared her life with others. Helen Keller died in 1968. She lived a full life. She was a hero to many people.
