A polite request

If you park your car in the wrong place, a traffic policeman will soon find it. (1)You will be very lucky if he lets you go without a ticket. However, this does not always happen. (2)交警有时候也很客气。 During a holiday in Sweden, I found this note on my car:' Sir, we welcome you to our city. This is a "No Parking" area. You will enjoy your stay here if you pay attention to our street signs. This note is only a reminder.' If you receive a request like this, you cannot fail to obey it!

Most children need their parents’ watching to keep safe in heavy traffic. Children learn about road safety by watching others. Make sure that you always set good examples. Your children will follow you and think it’s OK to do like you. Teach your children to pay attention to traffic lights when you cross the road together with them. This helps them understand when it is safe to cross. Make sure that you walk between your children and traffic, and hold their hands all the time.

When your children are a little older, you can start to tell them the importance of traffic knowledge. Let them start to understand the reasons why they need to be so careful. Talk with them about road signs and traffic rules and ask them to choose safe places to cross.

Teach your children to choose safe places to play. Never let them ride bikes on the road without an adult present (在场) at rush hour.

The most important thing you can do to keep your children from getting hurt is to encourage them to follow traffic rules. After knowing traffic rules, they will volunteer to obey them. In this way, they will be careful enough to keep themselves away from danger.

If you drive in New Zealand, it is necessary for you to take a little time to learn the road rules—for your own and others’ safety. There are a few things that you might find different from driving in your country. Here’s some information to help make your driving experience in New Zealand a safe and enjoyable one.

In New Zealand, traffic travels on the left-hand side of the road and the driver sits on the right of the car. When you are turning, you should be careful to the left side. Remember to keep your eyes on the road ahead. It is easy to draw your attention to the beautiful parts in New Zealand

If you’re turning, give way to all cars that are not turning. In all other situations, give way to the cars crossing or coming from your right.   

Many roads in New Zealand have one lane bridges on them. At one lane bridges, cars travelling in one direction must give way to cars going in the other direction. Any of the signs shown in the left picture mean that you are coming to a one lane bridge. Slow down and check for traffic coming the other way. The smaller arrow shows which direction has to give way.

Watch out for farm animals on the road, especially in the countryside. When you see them, please slow down. You may need to stop and let the animals go past you or move slowly up behind and follow the farmer’s instruction

It is a law that all the drivers must wear their seatbelts. If you are caught not wearing your seatbelt, you will be fined.
