Canada is in the North America. Vancouver (温哥华) is coastal (沿海的) city in it, which is well-known around the world. It is in the west of Canada, on the Pacific Ocean (太平洋). It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world—a city where you can go skiing in the morning, and go sailing (航海) in the afternoon. But over a hundred years ago only a few hundred people lived there. Now there are nearly 1,800,000 people there, and it is Canada’s third largest city. Vancouver had water all around it and has lots of amazing views (风景). It is a city full of colorful flowers and people call it “the village on the edge (边缘) of the forest”! You can go skiing for five months of the year in the high mountains. It takes only thirty minutes to drive from the city to the mountains. Vancouver is famous for its whales (鲸鱼). You can take boat to Vancouver island and watch the whales.
