Many people in the city like keeping pets as their hobbies. They think that pets can bring them happiness and give them love and comfort. Sometimes pets can help people, such 【小题1】 looking after the house while they’re away. But not everyone thinks it’s good to keep pets 【小题2】 a city. Some people say pets make the community dirty. My name is Xiao Su, I’m a South China tiger (华南虎). Last night, I dreamed that I was living in the 1850s. At that time, we were common in the 【小题1】 (野生的). Every day, as I went around in the forest, I could meet a few friends. Life was quite 【小题2】 (安宁的).

“Bang!” I was shocked by a sudden gunshot. I stared at the 【小题3】 (墙) of my cage and found it was just another dream. It was the 1950s. People called us “man-eating tigers.” Many of them were hunting us. We were also killed for our beautiful fur. And as people built more cities, many forests were destroyed. Every day, I lived in 【小题4】 (害怕) of losing my land or being killed.

With helpless tears in my eyes, I fell 【小题5】 (睡着) again.

“Xiao Su! Xiao Su!” I wake up to the 【小题6】 (声音) of the zookeepers. I look around my cage and feel 【小题7】 (安全的). Good or bad, none of these things ever happened to me. But I feel sad whether my kids ask me what the world is like. 【小题8】 (没有人) knows the answer for sure. All South China tigers today have been born and brought up in zoos.

Luckily, China is paying more attention to biodiversity(生物多样性). Researchers are trying to 【小题9】 (介绍) South China tigers back to the forest again. 【小题10】 (也许) my great-grandchildren will be able to live freely.
