Did you have any interesting dreams last night? Do you know everyone dreams? But not everyone remembers their dreams. A person can usually have up to seven dreams a night, and each dream usually lasts from 10 to 40 minutes.

Why do we dream? Scientists believe that we dream to remember because dreams come from our memories and they tell us a lot about ourselves. They also help us learn from the past and even help us solve problems.

Different dreams mean differently to people. For example, if you dream about flying, you are probably quite happy. This is a good time in your life. You may feel that other people see you as a leader. And when you dream that you didn’t study for a test, it usually means you are worried about an important thing coming in your life

Your third year of middle school was probably a hard and busy time.You may have had trouble getting enough sleep. We all know that not getting enough sleep is bad for our health. But it has been found that less sleep could even cause you to have fewer friends, The Guardian reported.

According to researchers from the University of California, people who don’t get enough sleep can be less willing to socialize (社交) with others. They can be simply too tired to go out.

The researchers did a small study. They tested 18 young people who had just had a good night’s sleep and then tested them again after a sleepless night. The participants watched videos of people with neutral (不带感情色彩的) expressions walking toward them. When the person on the video got too “close” to them, they pushed a button to stop the video, which recorded how close they allowed the person to get.

The results showed that the participants kept the person at a distance of 60% further back if they hadn’t got enough sleep. They felt that their personal space was being invaded (侵占). But when the participants got a good night’s sleep, they allowed the person to get much closer to them.

According to lead researcher Matthew Walker, the less sleep you get, the less you may want to socialize with others. In turn, other people may think you are strange and stay away from you. This can make you feel lonely and cause you to sleep even less. It becomes a bad cycle.

So if you want to be a more sociable and popular person, sleeping well might help. “One night of good sleep makes you feel more outgoing and socially confident,” Walker told the Daily Mail.

What can you do if you want to have a good night’s sleep?

Clothing (服装) is a language. We can look at traditional clothing to know more about culture.

Africa has a long history and a rich culture, and this is shown in traditional dress. The three colors—red, gold and green, are often used in the clothing. The first color represents the blood of millions of people who fought for freedom; the second, rich resources of the African earth; and the third, the grassland of home.

Because clothing has strong social meanings people are very careful in choosing what to wear. It would be a serious mistake to wear the wrong clothes or to dress in the wrong way. For example, in Ghana a woman should wear her waistband (腰带) differently according to the importance of the social event

Traditional dress also tells us about everyday life. African designs are famous for loose (宽松的) clothing. The temperature there can be very high during the daytime but very low at night, so it requires that the clothes are comfortable for daily life.

Today although more and more young people like wearing Western clothes especially in big cities in Africa, traditional African dress is still quite valuable. This is because it has deep cultural meanings.
