Nature shows itself in many ways. One of its 【小题1】 forms is a kind of storm known as a typhoon, cyclone or hurricane. The names of the storm are different in different areas. According to scientists, the reason for these slower-moving storms is that the Earth’s climate (气候) 【小题8】 changed. If we don’t do something for nature, we will have to face a more terrible 【小题9】. On May 12, 2008, a terrible earthquake 【小题1】 Wenchuan, Sichuan. With the help of the whole nation, people there have returned to 【小题2】 life. Let’s see some of their stories.

On that day 13 years ago, a house 【小题3】 down. 20-year-old Jiang Yuhang was in it. He couldn’t move his body. 125 【小题4】 later, some firefighters (消防员) from Shanghai saved Jiang. “The firefighters gave 【小题5】 a second life. I wanted to be one of them, ” Jiang said. At the end of 2018, his 【小题6】 came true. Now Jiang is a firefighter of the same team in Shanghai.

Dai Guohong and his classmates were under their broken classroom 【小题7】 the earthquake happened. He was saved at last, although (尽管) he lost his legs. 【小题8】, most of his classmates died. Dai started swimming in 2009 to keep 【小题9】. Later he won many swimming games. In 2018, he became a volunteer (志愿者) in Chengdu.

Li Xinyun, a 7-year-old girl from Mianzhu, lost her right hand in the earthquake. She started to practice 【小题10】 with her left hand. And in just three months, she could write quite well. Now she is a student in Central China Normal University.

Stay alive and work hard. While there is life, there is hope.

An earthquake usually comes without 【小题1】. It is dangerous, but you can do something to 【小题2】 yourself when it happens.

If you are 【小题3】 when the earthquake starts, what should you do? You should hide   【小题4】 a table or a bed. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling things. Don't stand near walls or 【小题5】. 

If you are outside, get to an open area as fast as you can. 【小题6】 away from buildings and trees. If you are in a car, stay in the car. If you are 【小题7】 to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. 【小题8】 can cause huge waves (海浪). The waves can really hurt the people around.

When the earthquake is 【小题9】, there is still plenty of danger. For example, fire often comes with an earthquake. If you see a fire, move 【小题10】 to an open area.
