If you think you’re too shy and want to be brave (勇敢的), try the following. You can make it. Tell people you’re shy. There’s no need to hide (隐藏) it. When they get to know you’re a shy kid, they’ll understand you better. This also helps you feel more relaxed in talks.

Try to smile (微笑) more. When you smile, people think you’re friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that other people have feelings too and most people will stay away from an angry-looking face.

Learn to be a good talker. If you find it hard to start talks, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn’t it make you want to keep talking to that person?

Get your attention (注意) elsewhere. Think more about ways to enjoy parties or games. Don’t waste time worrying about your look or whether people like you or not.

Take one small step at a time. Each time when you say “Hi” or smile at someone,say to yourself, “You did it.”

Keep trying and you are sure to do better.

If we agree that education is used to prepare us for life, then there is very little time to waste. So, while we can, we should teach children something really useful. Here is what our school should teach.

politeness is a mark of civilization (文明). The sooner children learn this, the better. In any case, a lot can be achieved by a smile and good manners. Like it or not, our adults work hard for money, but we don’t make an effort to teach children how to manage it. So our schools have a duty to teach them this ability from the beginning.

We’re likely to accept something we are told, but that’s not what educated people do. Educated people are reasonable and they look at facts. If our schools teach nothing else, they should at least teach critical (批判性的) thinking.

Children should learn to take care of their health. They should know that if they eat junk food, they will become fat and unhealthy. They should be very clear about what happens to their bodies when they drink or smoke.

All of us are part of society. We have rights and duties. We should understand what they are. We have to know a little bit of history and geography, because we need to have an environment in which to communicate with the people around us.

In a word, our schools should spend every moment they have telling this to our children: “This is life, this is what you are going to face, and this is how you deal with it.”

Many students don’t have a good habit, so they are not healthy. Here are some things about health.

●Healthy eating

Many students like ice-cream and hamburgers. But they are not healthy. Eat green vegetables and fruit every day. Apples, tomatoes and carrots are very good for us. Healthy eating isn’t only eating healthy food, but eating right. We must eat breakfast, and we can have vegetables and chicken for lunch, but don’t eat dinner too much and don’t eat too late.

●Do sports

Many students like to watch TV or play computer games. They don’t like playing sports because they think it’s boring and difficult. But its not right. Doing sports can make(使得) us well and happy.
