I’m Mary. I’m a movie lover and I want my kids to like movies, too. The first time I took my daughter, Lily, to the movie theater, she was six years old and the movie was Bambi. I chose it because I thought a cartoon movie would be good to her.

Everything was going just fine and Bambi was so lovely. However, when a man killed Bambi’s mother, my daughter became very sad and asked to go home. So we left in the middle of the movie. Later I chose movies more carefully and my daughter watched many great ones. Luckily, she likes movies as much as I do now.

My worry is: Are cartoons really safe for kids? Once I sat on the sofa to watch a carton with my 8-year-old son, Bill. I got dumbfounded when I saw a cartoon character was bleeding in front of us. The cartoon was like an action movie for adults!

The next time you take a kid to the movie theater, be careful! Maybe a cartoon isn’t the best. You should take the time to watch it first (It’s a habit with me). Or the kid may get messages he or she isn’t ready to get yet.

Do you like to try new things? Some people don’t. If they can do a thing well, they find it hard to challenge（挑战）themselves and become better? It’s OK to feel like this. Let’s meet a new idea-the “comfort zone（舒适区）”.

Many people like to stay in their comfort zones. It’s easy because you are in control（控制）of the things. But if you stay there too long, you will have no adventure (冒险) in your life.

I like public speeches（公众演讲）a lot, and made many speeches in all kinds of contests （比赛）. For a long time, I felt that I was very good and I don’t want to challenge myself. Yes, I was in my “comfort zone”. But last week, I was in a contest. I heard a really interesting speech. The speaker started with a fun story. People like it very much. I saw a new door open for me. Later, I made some different ways to start a speech and I became better, I got a sense of achievement.

Sometimes we want to stay in our comfort zones. But if you get out, you can make things different and become happier!
