Everyone likes holidays, because they can do what they want 【小题1】. May Day holiday 【小题2】 next month. The students in my class are looking forward to it. They 【小题3】 their holiday plans now. Here 【小题4】 some of their plans.

Li Daming, the monitor for our class, is going to have a picnic with his parents in the park. They are going shopping 【小题5】 some food and drinks for it. He says there must be many people in the park on May Day holiday. He can help 【小题6】 litter after the picnic. Wang Lingling always 【小题7】 hard. She’s going to go over lessons at home first and then see her grandparents in the countryside. Zhao Dan says he is going 【小题8】 and he is going to Beijing to visit the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. He thinks it’s busy but good fun.   

As for me, I’m going to enjoy myself during the holiday. I’m going to Qingdao to spend my holiday. Qingdao is a coastal(沿海的) city. There is a lot 【小题9】 and to do there. I hope I 【小题10】 a good time there.   

What’s your plan about the coming May Day holiday?

Halloween (万圣节) is on October 31st every year. There are a lot of 【小题1】 with their children to trick-or-treat in the neighbourhood. It probably would be a little selfish if we only bought candy for ourselves and didn’t 【小题2】 it to the trick-treaters. I have lots of memories of Halloween as a kid and I 【小题3】 it every year. To celebrate the day, I often dress up and my parents take us out to trick-or-treat. We don’t have many neighbours, so my parents drive us to a bigger neighbourhood in town, and we’d go 【小题4】. My parents are determined to make the most of every chance to make us laugh. Like this time, my mum 【小题5】 as a clown (小丑) and kept telling old jokes to everyone she met. My dad wrote parking tickets for people’s cars that were parked in their own parking place! I hope we can help to give our children the 【小题6】 kind of memories when they grow up.

Today’s story is about Zhu Hui, a student from Shenzhen. He’s now 【小题1】 in the United States. He’s living with an 【小题2】 family in New York. Today is the Dragon Boat Festival. It is 9:00 a.m. and Zhu Hui’s family are at home. 【小题3】 mom and aunt are making zongzi. His dad and uncle are watching the boat race on TV.

【小题4】 Zhu Hui also watching the races and eating zongzi? Well, it’s 9:00 p.m. in New York, it’s the night before the festival. But there isn’t a Dragon Boat Festival in the US, so it’s like any other night for Zhu Hui and his host family. The mother is reading a story to her young 【小题5】, and they are listening carefully. The father is watching a soccer game on TV. And Zhu Hui is 【小题6】 to his cousin in Shenzhen. He 【小题7】 his family and wishes to have his 【小题8】 delicious zongzi. Zhu Hui likes New York and his host family a lot, but there’s still “no place like home.”
