In many English homes people eat four meals a day. Breakfast is a very big meal. They have breakfast from seven to nine in the morning. They eat porridge, eggs or bread and drink tea or coffee at breakfast. Lunch comes at one o’clock. For many people, lunch is a quick meal. Many people eat all kinds of salad and sandwiches for lunch. Afternoon tea is from four to five in the afternoon. Some people have afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes and a cup of tea. Dinner is at about half past seven. First they have soup, and then they have meat or fish with vegetables. After that, they eat some other things, like bananas, apples or pears. But not all English people eat like that. Some of them have their dinner in the middle of the day. So their meals are breakfast, dinner, tea and supper.
The Englishmen often eat take-away food. They buy it at a shop or a restaurant and eat it at home.
