Long long ago, there lived a giraffe in the forest. He was the tallest of all the animals, so he was too proud and always looked down on (轻视) others. A monkey decided to teach the giraffe a lesson.

One day, the monkey led the giraffe to a tree. He said to the giraffe, “Look at the tall tree. There’s some lovely fruit growing on the tree, but you wouldn’t be able to pick it.”

The giraffe said, “It is impossible. Just watch me.” He tried to pick the fruit, but it was just out of reach.

“I said you couldn’t reach it, but I can,” said the monkey. Then, the monkey jumped onto the giraffe’s back. He reached out his arm and picked the fruit.

The monkey said, “We could not do it alone, but we can do it together. So, don’t be so proud.”

After that, the giraffe didn’t boast (吹嘘) any more. He even became friends with the monkey.

This morning, I went camping(野营) in Green Natural Park with my friends. 【小题1】 We were expecting a wonderful two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.

However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o’clock, it was dark and windy. 【小题2】 Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide(躲).

Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we got to the campsite(野营地). 【小题3】

We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. 【小题4】 But we were not able to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o’clock, it stopped raining. 【小题5】

This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.
