Two ninth graders from Austin, US, have created a “smart cane (拐杖)”. It helps people who ________ visually impaired (视力受损的).

Ahyan Hassan and Hasan Rizvi made the cane for a school ________ competition. The cane helps a person to see obstacles (障碍物) up to 1.5 meters away. This design ________ first prize in the competition. “We put blood, sweat and tears ________ this invention. We were really excited to win,” Hassan told local newspaper KXAN News.

From West Grove, Pennsylvania, 14-year-old Alaina Gassler created a solution for one of the biggest car problems in history. The teenager invented a device (设备) to get rid of blind spots in cars. She won a $25,000 Samueli Foundation Prize for her creation.
