With the development of economics (经济), the problem of the left-behind children has become a serious social problem. More and more people have realized we should do something to help them.

The biggest problem is that the children are all hungry for the love from their parents. Many of them can just get a call or a letter from their parents half a year, a year or even several years. So some children can’t remember what their parents look like. When they meet their own troubles, they have no one to talk with. Nobody gives them enough care.

Because of being too far away from their parents, the left-behind children’s study is the second biggest problem. From a survey about their study, only two percent of the children get good results while ten percent of them are common and eighty-eight percent of them are poor. What a pity!

There are also many other problems of the left-behind children, such as having no ability to protect themselves, unhealthy lifestyles, spending too much pocket money and too much time on the Internet and so on.

In a word, to solve all the problems of the left-behind children needs the government, families and schools to try their best together.

Bike sharing programs have been popular in many cities and communities across China. Some in the cycling community believe these programs have many advantages, encouraging the people who might not use a bicycle to ride bikes. Others think that the programs are filled with potential (潜在的) danger and create more problems than they solve.

Biking is great for the environment because it allows people to travel without burning fuel (燃料). People who use bike sharing programs might use them instead of their own car or taxi to travel around their area. This helps to cut down air pollution and creates a culture of eco-friendly (环保的) transportation. Biking is known to be excellent exercise for both the body and the mind. Also, it's convenient to use. Public bicycle systems offer a convenient, easy-to-use system for people.

We all know that bicycle helmets protect us from injuries (受伤) and should be worn by all cyclists (骑行者). It seems impossible for everyone who doesn't own a bicycle to wear a helmet. And during heavy traffic hours, bicycles might not be available for use. Furthermore, Bike sharing programs make bicycling easy for everyone, whether or not they are familiar (熟悉的) with cycling. Some people will have experience riding in the city, while for others it may be a first-time experience. These people put themselves and others on the road at risk.

What is happiness for children? Is it by growing up in a rich family or making decisions freely?

On Sept 3, 2020, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) released a report about children’s well-being (幸福感). They did a survey among-children under 18 years old in 38 developed countries.

According to the report, good mental and physical health, and skills for life are the three main factors (因素) when considering the happiness of a child.

Children in the Netherlands (荷兰) are the happiest children of all the countries surveyed, which has allowed the country to top the list of mental health, followed by Denmark and Norway.

Researchers say that both Dutch parents and teachers give a lot of support to children and have little control of them.

It’s also believed that young people are happier when they get less stress from an expectation to be good. In Dutch, there is no phrase that means literally (字面上地) “you are a good boy” or “good girl”. “Well done” or “Thank you” are used more frequently.

However, though many countries showed advantages in their children’s physical health and skills for life, their conditions of mental health didn’t rank very high.

For example, Japanese children ranked first in physical health, while they are ranked second-worst in mental well-being, with only 62 percent satisfied with life. According to the Japan Times, children’s bad mental health is mainly due to too much competition to get into top schools.

In fact, mental health has been a key factor in happiness assessment (评估).

According to the World Health Organization, 10 to 20 percent of children worldwide experience mental problems. Half of all mental illnesses begin by the age of 14. This could have something to do with social relationships, bullying, changes in environment and schoolwork pressures.
