I’m Eric. Welcome to our classroom. You can see a nice classroom. A blackboard is on the wall. A map of China and a map of the world are on the wall, too. The map of China is old. But the map of the world is new. There is a teacher’s desk. An eraser and a ruler are on it.
There are two doors. Some brooms(扫把)and a football are behind the door. Fifty desks and chairs are in our classroom. They are our desks and chairs. That is a bookcase. And some books are in it. The students can read them after class but can’t take any of them out.
Some flowers are near the window. They are red. We like our classroom. We like our class, too.

My school has a big library. We all like to visit it.
It’s on the first floor of the school building. There are thousands of books in it. It has books of all subjects. It has a lot of storybooks and newspapers, too. Our classrooms are on the second to fifth floor. In the library, there are many tables and chairs. They all look very clean. And books are kept in good orders(有秩序放好). It’s easy for students to find the books.
Students of all classes and all the teachers can visit the library. We all have library cards. Before going into the library, we must show our cards. So we have to take it every day. We can take one book at a time from the school library. We must return(归还)the book in seven days.
Our library teacher is a nice woman. She is friendly to all students. She always helps us find books. Sometimes we will ask her something about books. She is always happy to talk with us.
I love to visit my school library. It’s a good place to read and study.

Lately, our class has become worried about the environment at the back of the school, and we would like to do something to make it more attractive. We have done some research and have come up with a plan. With the help of our parents, we can do most of the work ourselves, but we will need a small amount of money for equipment, plants and paint. I am writing to ask the council (委员会) for permission to do this work and to ask if the school council could donate (捐赠) $500 towards our project.
We would like to turn the empty land at the back of the school into a nature garden. We would plant trees and grasses, make paths through the garden and dig a small pond. We think this would provide a peaceful place for students and teachers to walk in. It would also attract birds, insects and small animals which students could then study in science classes. We would also like to paint the back wall of the school that faces the new garden. Some of our art classes could then paint a huge picture on it. It might be possible to paint over the wall each year so the next classes can make a new picture.
Lastly, we would like to paint all the rubbish bins. At the moment they look old and the paint is coming off. If we paint them in bright, attractive colours, students might be more likely to use them. We think our plan would greatly improve the back of the school and everyone in the school would benefit. We have already asked our parents and they have promised to donate one weekend of their time to help us complete the project.
We hope you will give us permission for this worthwhile project. When we have finished the work, we hope the council will join us in a celebration morning tea so that the whole school can thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Jim White
