On 13 December, 2021, the Ministry of Education said that homework help apps would be removed temporarily (暂时下线). These apps make students lazy and stop them from self-thinking. 【小题2】.

Some online tutoring (辅导) apps may be influenced (受影响). 【小题3】. For example, Zuoyebang app had more than 100 million users in 2020, according to a report. Another question search app Xiaoyuan Souti solved at least 23.47 million questions each day, reported Global Times.

“These homework help apps are not good for some students,” an English teacher from Hebei Province told China Daily. “ 【小题4】,”   the English teacher said.

【小题5】. Some parents also use them to help children with their homework. “It was already difficult for me to solve fifth-grade math problems,” a parent said. “Now my son is in the eighth grade. I don’t know what to do if I need to check his homework. Removal of these apps means a lot of trouble for me.”

After spending 40 hours playing the online game King of Glory, a middle school student had a stroke（中风）and nearly died. This happened in Guangdong province in April last year. It shows how bad things can get if one spends too much time on the Internet.

Among China’s 772 million Internet users, about 151 million of them are between the ages of 10 and 19, according to China Internet Information Center. It is necessary for parents and school to educate children to use the Internet in a good way.

To stop more teenagers from spending too much time on the Internet, the Ministry of Education（MOE）sent a letter to all parents in China on April 20,2018. It calls on them to pay more attention to their children’s online activities. It is also advised that children should make screen time less than 1.5 hours a day.

The MOE also sent a notice to primary and middle schools, asking them to monitor students’ Internet use. From now on, schools will pay more attention to their students’ Internet use and their use of mobile phones. Schools have been told to teach students how to avoid violent（暴力的）online things.

MOE’s messages leave us to think about why some of our children choose to sit before the computer day and night instead of going out to take in the fresh air. Maybe children should develop some healthy habits, like reading, playing sports and playing instruments. Also, it’s better to fill children’s weekends with family activities like doing housework together or visiting somewhere. The Internet can be a part of children’s life but not everything.
