More Chinese universities are opening their libraries to the public, allowing people to enjoy reading during normal time and the vacations.

【小题1】Wang Ling, a student in Sun Yat-sen University is one of them. “Members of the public come to our libraries more for sightseeing than reading,” said Wang. “They sometimes even bring their kids along, and take photos as if it were a place of interest.” 【小题2】 Being short of space is a common problem for university libraries in China.

However, this is not the only reason why students dislike their libraries being open to members of the public. 【小题3】 Chen Jie, 18, a student in Tongji University, is one who would be against opening to the public. “I have been to a public library before. People were chatting loudly or speaking on cell phone so you can hardly read,” Chen said. This shows that Chinese is more and more popular around the world. Most of the parents of the school think Chinese is very beautiful. In this English-Chinese junior high school in London, students don’t just study the Chinese language(语言）. They also learn about Chinese culture(文化). They have lessons about Chinese history. To help the students learn better, the teachers often write some plays about Chinese history. Then the students perform them in the school hall. They also learn how to cook Chinese food.
