On a sunny afternoon, we went to a park to have fun. Some people were painting pictures, some were writing calligraphy(书法), and some were shooting arrows. I decided to try shooting arrows myself—it looked fun and challenging.

I saw one woman pick up an arrow and shoot it after taking a moment to aim(瞄准). The arrow curved(飞出弧线) through the air beautifully. But it finally fell to the ground and missed the target(目标).

It seemed that she didn't put enough power into her shot. While I was thinking about what I should do, it was my turn to shoot. I focused my eyes on the target and shot the arrow with all of my strength. But the arrow missed the target and stuck straight in the grass. I shot three more arrows, but all of them missed.

I was upset, but decided to take one more shot. I took a deep breath and put one foot forward to keep my balance. I focused hard on the target and shot the arrow. This time, I hit the target!

I realized that there are many things that are not as simple as we imagine. There are challenges everywhere. But if we focus on one thing at a time and learn from failure, we can succeed in the end.

Last weekend, I had a trip in Sete, a small seaside town in the south of France. I went with a French friend and I stayed with her family. The sky was blue and the sun was shining.

When I was there, my friend took me to the cinema. I loved going to the cinema at home in England, but I had been in France for three months and I went to the cinema for the first time. I was worried because I was afraid that I couldn’t understand the film. It was a very small cinema with just three small rooms. It looked nothing like the cinema in my hometown. We chose to watch a Disney movie because the story was easy to follow.

I was surprised to find that I understood almost everything. However, it was a little difficult to know every word of the songs, but I understood the feelings and the stories behind them, so it wasn’t too bad. I recommend watching a film in a foreign language because it shows you how well you learn the language. I have no reason to be nervous, and now I think I will watch more movies in the local cinema of the French town.

I walked into a restaurant and ordered some food. After about 20 minutes, a large group of people came in and took their own orders.

I felt disappointed (失望的) because the group got served before me. I watched as they began to eat and laughed loudly. I heard one of them bragging (吹嘘) about how he knew someone who worked at the restaurant. Unable to stand it any more, I decided to leave. I asked the waiter to cancel my order angrily.

He told me nicely, “Yours is a special order. The head chef is preparing it himself. It’ll take a little more time. Please have a drink when you wait. “I calmed down (冷静) and waited patiently. A few minutes later, my meal was served by six waiters.

To my surprise, the owner of the restaurant was a long-lost friend of mine. He saw me walking in and decided to surprise me. He turned my simple meal into a five-star meal for free. The people at the other tables were shocked and couldn’t stop looking at me. They asked angrily why they didn’t get that kind of service.

Such is life! Some people go ahead of you, laughing at you and talking about how they are smarter, better and luckier than you, while you are working hard day and night, wondering why it’s taking so long for you to get reward (奖励) like them.
