Next, you can read a book anywhere: in a car, in a waiting-room, on a plane, in bed—even in the bath.

All you need is a book! Reading is an easy hobby because you can stop and then start again.

Another good reason for reading books is that it is useful. If you read as a hobby you will get better and better at it. This means that you will read faster and will become better at understanding what you read. As your reading becomes better, you will probably find your schoolwork becomes much easier.

Some people say that reading is out of date. This is not true. You have to be able to read on the Internet.

The better you read, the better your computer skills will be.

Good readers are most likely to be good writers, too. They are usually good at spelling as well, and have more things to write about. Reading books is a wonderful hobby. What else could be more enjoyable!

Every year, floods(洪水) hurt or make many people die around the world. So if your home flooded, what would you do? Here is some advice for you.

The first thing you need to do is to turn off the lights, water, and so on quickly. If you can’t turn them off, ask an expert for help. Once you’ve turned them off, don’t turn them on again. That could be really dangerous. You mustn’t turn them on again until an expert agrees.

Before the flood water arrives, there are some things you should take care of. Move paints and other chemicals(化学品) to higher places so that they won’t pollute the flood water.

Usually when there is flooding, don’t use the polluted water. Don’t allow children to play in flood water areas or get into the flood water. It could not only be polluted, but there’s something dangerous, if there’s a downed wire(电线) near you, it could hurt you or make you die.

After the flood water, don’t return to your house until you are told it is OK to do so, because your safety(安全) is the most important. Once it’s OK to return to your home, you should carry away important things as many as possible.

According to a new survey, students’ safety has become a big problem. Now in some big cities in China, some school have taught an unusual lesson: self-protection. Students can learn how to save lives and know how to stop danger before it really happens.

1 If a car hits you, you should remember the car number. If it is a bicycle, try to call your parents before you let the rider go. This is because you don’t know how badly you’re hurt.

2 Don’t stay at high places and stay away from trees.

3 Run away as fast as you can. Put wet things on your body and try to find an exit. Do not take the lift.

4 If you can’t swim, don’t get into the water. Cry out for help.

5 Keep calm. If you cannot cry for help or run away, give the robber your money. Try to remember what the robber looks like and tell the police later.

Remember that danger is never as far as you think. Take care of yourself at all times!
