The story begins with the Chinese Emperor Shen Nong. He lived over five thousand years ago. He was very interested in finding new plants. One day he went out to find new plants. During a break, a man began to boil water to drink. Suddenly, the wind blew and some dry leaves(树叶) fell into the boiling water. The water became brown. The emperor drank the water and found it very refreshing. He discovered(发现)that the dry leaves fell from a wild tea bush. Since then, Chinese people have enjoyed tea very much.

There are various manners(礼仪)of drinking tea. In Beijing, a guest should receive the tea with both hands and say “Thank you.” In some cities, a guest leaves a little tea in the cup to ask for more. So, it would be good to learn about tea manners.

To Chinese, tea is not only a drink, but also a form of art and culture. Chinese people are proud of their tradition of drinking tea.
