He was 50 years old when I was born. I didn’t know why he was home instead of mom, but I was the only one of my friends who had their dad around.

Dad did so many things for me during my school years. He would always make lunch for me to take to school. There would be a napkin (餐巾纸) (A)____ “I love you” written on it. He always had some silly saying to make me smile and let me know that (B) 他爱我. My friends all wished they had someone who showed them that kind of love. I was so proud to have him as my father. ①

When I left home (C) ____college, I thought the messages would stop. But my friends and I were glad that his messages continued. I’m happy to call him a lot and we started a ritual (仪式) that stayed with us. After I said good-bye, he always said. “Angie?” “Yes, dad?” “I love you.” “I love you, too, dad.”

My friends used to call him “Coolest Dad in the Universe (宇宙).” And when they learned that he had cancer (癌症), they sent him a card that they all signed. ② I wouldn’t be surprised if my friends started sending napkins to their children. He inspired (激励) them to express their own love.

③ As he was growing sicker, I decided to come home. Those were the hardest days to go through. I was alone with him in the hospital a few days before he died.

Jason is nine years old and he comes from Changsha. He has a big and happy family. His parents, grandparents and his brother all love him very much. The boy is very good at music. Why? Because he works very hard(努力) and his mother and grandmother are musicians(音乐家). His mother and grandmother can play the violin(小提琴) and piano. In his free time, his mother often teaches him to play the piano. Jason thinks it’s fun to play the piano, and he likes to be with his family.

Jason is a good boy and he studies hard at school, too. His English is very good. There are many English books in his bookcase. His favorite ones are Harry Potter. They are very interesting and popular(受欢迎的). He reads them every day.

Everyone has his hero（英雄）. Who is yours? Many people think a hero is someone who is on the news. But for me, my hero is someone who has a big influence（影响）on my life. He is my grandpa.

Grandpa was born（出生）in a small town. He went to fight in the war（战争）at the age of 18. After the war ended, he went to a university to learn medicine and then became a pharmacist（药剂师）. Grandpa got up at four o'clock every morning because he wanted to prepare medicine early. Then he opened the store at 5 a.m.

Grandpa had an operation（手术）on his heart in 1999. The doctor said he would have only 3 years to live, but he lived for 8 more years. He wanted to live longer so that he could help more people. My grandpa was 82 years old when he died on June 14, 2007. 1 was so sad about it.

Grandpa once told me to help others as often as possible. I always remember his words. Every time I see people in need, I'll give them some help at once.

I am very thankful to my grandpa. He is a real hero.
