This granny has more than 400,000 followers. 70-year-old woman Chen Jifang wins hearts with her energetic(精力充沛的) exercise on Douyin. According to Chen, her health had been poor since she was a child. She even had to give up her job after giving birth to her daughter because her health was badly influenced.

“In the past, whenever I felt uncomfortable, I would lie at home for a whole day. I think more people like me will be encouraged to work out in the fitness room after seeing that a granny like me can do it. The message I want to send is that it is never too late to make efforts to keep healthy,” Chen said.

According to a report on the fitness activities of the elderly (老年人), nearly 90 percent of such people in China have the exercise habits, while 66.4 percent of them exercise almost every day. The report also shows that the traditional ways for the elderly to stay healthy, such as square dancing and tai chi, have been unable to meet the new needs of the elderly population.
