On November 20, a police dog training center in Beijing welcomed six new trainees. They are all cloned dogs. The dogs were born in August. They were cloned from two police dogs who have helped police solve many murder cases.

Early this year, scientists took some cells from the dogs’ skin and created cloned embryos. Then, they put the embryos into three mother dogs. One mother gave birth to four dogs, while the other two bore one each. The cloned dogs’ DNA is a 99-percent match with their “fathers”.

It is hoped that the cloned dogs will be as talented as their “fathers” because they are cloned. The cloned dogs are just four months old, but have already shown that they are brave and aggressive, and have sharp memories as well. It will take less time and money to train them.

Kunxun, China’s first cloned dog, joined the police in Kunming in March. The world’s first cloned dog was born in South Korea in 2005.

However, animal cloning has long been a hot topic. The world’s first cloned animal, Dolly the sheep, died at the age of 6 in 2003, about 6 years earlier than most sheep. Some people have questioned whether cloning technology is safe.

In addition, some people worry that cloning technology may be used on humans someday and therefore may raise some ethical problems. Can we call a human clone a real human?

Gogo is a lovely dog. On Friday, Gogo will be 15 years old. That is old for a dog.

“What shall(将要) we plan for Gogo’s Birthday?” asks Mia.

“It is just 2 days left and we haven’t planned anything. We’d better think of somethings”, says Mike. “Gogo will be unhappy if we do nothing on his birthday. We always do something for Gogo’s birthday.”

“Can we have a party? What about taking him to the park? Or to the beach(沙滩)?” asks Mia. “How about taking him on a hike(远足)? It is a special(特别的) birthday because Gogo will be 15 years old.”

“We must plan a party for Gogo”, said Mike. “Let’s make a list.” says Mike. “Who can we invite to Gogo’s party? What can we eat? Where can we have the party? What can we do for fun? What game can we play?”

Mike and Mia are going to plan a fun and special party for Gogo. They invite Gogo’s favorite friends. They plan Gogo’s favorite games. They shop for Gogo’s favorite food. However, it’s difficult for them to find a place for the party. They go to the park, the beach and the woods(森林). They even go to the store. The store is not for dogs for sure. They really want to find a good place for Gogo’s party.

Soon it is Friday. They have the party at the zoo at last. It’s Gogo’s favorite place. Gogo’s best friends all say happy birthday to Gogo.

There were many sick monkeys, and Dr. Dolittle was very busy curing them.

He separated the sick monkeys from the well ones.He gave shots to all the monkeys that were well so that they wouldn't get sick. Then he asked them to build a house and make beds for all the sick monkeys. He put all the sick monkeys in this house.

“I need more nurses, ”he said. “Ask other animals in the jungle to come and help.” At first, the other animals did not want to help. The King of the Lions said with a roar, “I'm not going to nurse monkeys.” The doctor tried hard not to seem afraid of him. He said,“ One day you may be ill. Then you will want someone, even a monkey, to nurse you.” The King of the Lions just roared again and went away. That night, one of his children felt sick.“ He won't eat,” the Queen Lioness said to the King of the lions.“ You must do something.”“ There's nothing I can do, ”the King of the Lions said.“   A lot of monkeys are sick, too. Do you know, there's a man who asked me to nurse them. He’s some kind of doctor. Huh! I told him that lions didn't nurse other animals.”

The Queen Lioness was very angry.“ That was a stupid thing to say,” she said. "Go back to him, and ask him to come and cure our baby. Tell him you'll help nurse the monkeys. And take some other animals with you.”

He did as he was told. Many of the animals helped to nurse the sick monkeys, and they were soon well.

The doctor was very tired now and needed to rest.
