Wang Bin was born and grew up in a small town near the beach in Haikou, China. In the past ten years, he has been an athlete in international sailing competitions.

In 2016, Wang Bin was competing in an around-the-world race when he began to ________ the huge amount of rubbish in the world’s oceans. When he returned to Haikou, he ________ to do something about it.

He organized (组织) a ________ event called “Clean Up the Beach.” On Sunday, January 8, 2017, more than 400 volunteers ________ rubbish to improve their local environment. The next year, Wang Bin made the clean-up an even ________ one. Across Hainan Island, about 3,000 people took part in the event actively and it was a huge ________.

Since then, the project “Clean Up Hainan Island” has ________ much more attention of the public. In 2019, for example, 8,000 people cleaned up almost 15,000 tons of rubbish from the beaches, parks and streets. And Wang Bin was ________ with the success of his project.

In 2021, he started ________ big program, “Clean Up China”, a national program that supports communities around us in cleaning up and protecting the environment. “Clean Up China” has grown ________ and his wonderful idea has now spread from one city to another, especially cities located near the coast.
