If you go to Australia, you can see koalas everywhere. They’re a kind of cute animals only to be found in Australia. They are a symbol of Australia. And some of them are sent(被送) to other countries like America, China, France as gifts. But people keep them all in zoos in these countries. You can see them in the wild only in Australia. They have no natural enemies(天敌). The koala’s favorite food is only the leaves of the eucalyptus tree(桉树).
Victoria State is in the southeast of Australia. In Victoria, the koalas are becoming more and more in these years. This is a problem because the koalas nearly eat all the leaves of eucalyptus trees and then they will have nothing to eat.
Last year, people moved 500 koalas to other forests, and now they want to keep the number of koalas down. However, it will be some years before the leaves of eucalyptus trees grow back again.

Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was and I said, “Fried chicken”. She said I wasn’t funny, but she wasn’t right, because everyone else laughed.
My parents told me to always be truthful and I am. Fried chicken is my favorite food. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA (善待动物组织). He said they love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef: Anyway my teacher sent me to the principal’s office (校长室). I. told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like she’d asked the other children. I told her it was because people could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal’s office. He laughed, and told me not to do it again. I don’t understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am.
Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we like most.
I told her, “Colonel Sanders (肯德基创始人).”
Guess where I am now…
