I just installed(安装)the ThingsToDo app on my phone. It’s so easy to use, and it is really useful when you’ve got lots of things to do and not much time! You just create a list and then add items(项目)to it. Once a week it sends you a list of everything you’ve done. Juan |
Have you heard about SkyWatch? It’s great. You just point your phone at the night sky and it tells you what the stars are. You can also type in the name of a planet and the programme tells you where to look for it. Katya |
I’ve just installed Tunespotter. If you hear a song you like but you don’t know what it is, you can use this app. It tells you the name of the song and the singer. And if you like it, you can buy the song really easily. I’ve had it for a week and I’ve been using it a lot. Martin |
I’ve been using Crazy Faces a lot recently. It’s very silly, but it’s fun. You just take photos of your friends and then you can change their faces. You can make them look older or younger, fatter or thinner, and you can add beards(胡须)and glasses. I’ve seen lots of photos where people have put baby faces on adult bodies and they make me laugh every time! Luke |

The People's Republic of China(PRC)just celebrated its 70th birthday this year. During National Day, we asked students to share their feelings about China. Here are some of their answers.
A few months ago, our school visited the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition(世博园). In the 5G exhibition hall, I was impressed by how quickly people could download(下载)videos. It took just seconds. I saw a robot with sensors(感应器)in all parts of its body. With the help of 5G technology, the robot can do the same things as people do without any time gap(时间差). On July 30 this year, a cable-stayed bridge(斜拉桥)was noticed by everyone in Baoding, Hebei. Its main body is 495 meters long and 39.7 meters wide. In order not to influence the bridge might have on Beijing-Guangzhou Railway traffic, the workers made a special turntable(转盘). With its help, the bridge finally got into place after turning for 90 minutes. I will study harder and do something creative in the future. (Du Yiran, 13) |
People love to travel. In the 1970s, anyone who was lucky enough to have a bicycle would be admired by others. Then, green trains came out, but they ran at a speed of 30 km per hour. In the 2010s, the speed of China's fastest trains rose to 350 km per hour. Now children my age can visit many places thanks to the highly developed transportation network. When maglev(磁悬浮)railways are more widely used, they will greatly shorten travel times again. (Zhuang Yizhou, 15) |

Millions of young people are writing blogs. Millions of other people are reading them. The word “blog” is short for “web log”.
Many popular websites now offer free, easy ways to create personal web pages. Websites like Facebook and MySpace are some of the most popular sites for people’s daily activities. They give people a place to write their ideas and opinions about how they think of others’ ideas.
Blogs offer young people a place to show their writing and feelings. They can also help people communicate with each other. But blogs can become dangerous when they are read on the Internet by millions of people all over the world.
Recent studies show that young people often give out their names, age and where they live on the Internet. That may not be safe for them. The personal information puts them at the risk (冒险) of being searched out by dangerous people who want to hurt them. Students can also get into trouble when they put others’ information on their blogs.
As a result, many schools have banned the use of blogging websites on school computers. Many schools have also begun teaching parents about the websites. Parents should know what their children are doing online and should read their blogs to make sure they are not giving out private (私人的) information. One way to keep away from their problems is to use programs so that blogs can be read by “friends only”. People can read the website only if they know a secret word chosen by the blogger.
