On a cold early morning, an old woman was carrying a big basket of cabbages on her head to the market. She hoped to sell them to the people in the town.

The mountain road was narrow（狭窄）and the old woman was walking carefully, because she did not want to lose her cabbages.

Suddenly she heard a loud bell and a bicycle came round. It passed her and went very fast down the hill. The old woman had to jump up to one side of the road so quickly that the basket of cabbages nearly fell into the valley（山谷）.

She looked up, and saw that a young boy was on the bicycle. He was riding on without even looking round to see whether the old woman was all right.

The old woman began to shout, “Come back, young man! You dropped something!” When he heard this, the boy stopped the bicycle so suddenly that he nearly fell off. Then he turned and began to push the bicycle back up to the hill. “What is it?” he asked. “What did I drop?”

“Little boy,” the old woman answered, “you dropped your manners.”

It’s a hot summer and there is no rain. A crow lives in a big tree near a village. He has no parents or friends. One day, he feels very thirsty. “Oh, I must find some water! I am thirsty. Where can I find water?” he thinks.

The crow flies to a house in the village. Outside the house, he sees a vase(花瓶) with some water. However, there was only a little bit of water. So he can’t drink it.

The crow doesn’t know what to do. He begins to cry, “Who can help me? I need help!” He cries and cries, but no one hears him. He is tired and he wants to do something. The crow tries to put vase down, but it is too heavy and he is not strong. Then, he has a good idea. He goes to finds little stones(石头). He comes back and puts the stones into the vase. At last, the crow can drink water!

“What nice water!” says the crow. “I’m happy that I don’t waste all my time crying.” He is a clever crow. We all know the name of the story is The Crow Drinking Water. We like the story. It tells us when we are in trouble, we need to think it over and solve it.

A single mother of three children is celebrating a big event in her life: passing the bar exam.

Leshia Champs, 33, got her law degree at Texas Southern University in April. She also became popular online when she shared graduation photos of herself and her kids on Facebook, which spread quickly.

On Monday, she posted a letter, which said she had passed the exam on Facebook.

“People all counted me out, but God counted me in,” she wrote on Facebook. “And I succeeded!”

According to her letter, she will need to finish her licensing process in order to become a practicing lawyer in Texas.

Champs said in April that she had been dreaming of being a lawyer since a young age, even though she experienced countless hardships throughout her life. When she was young, her parents died in a car accident, and things just went from there. When she had just given birth to her third baby, her home was destroyed by a fire and her husband died of cancer.

“Things were really difficult after my husband's death I really didn't know what to do. I was a mother and I needed to raise my three children alone.”

But Champs said her success is thanks to her children, who often helped her as she was studying to get her degree.

“When I look at the pictures, I cry, I smile, and I'm very grateful,” Champs said. “I see a woman who at one time knew that it seemed impossible for her to succeed. Looking at that picture reminds me of the fact that I did make an impossible dream come true.
