The junior high school graduates have to take a P.E. test in many places around China. The full marks are usually 30 points and it counts for much in the senior high school entrance exam.
In Nanjing, the test is held in April. Students have the test in their own schools. Each student is tested on three sports. They can choose long jump, basketball dribbling(运球) or volleyball. The pull-up is for boys and girls can choose the sit-up. Both boys and girls must skip in the test.
Most students find the test easy and more than 90%of them can get full marks. That’s because they have been training for it during the three whole years. Students in Junior Three usually do lots of practice in P.E. classes. The training makes the test easier than it seems to be.
Students in Nanjing don’t need to run a lot for the test, but students in Beijing must do lots of running for the test. Running is one of the sports in test. So in P.E. classes, they usually run a lot. Sometimes they have to run 3,000 meters in one class. Most teachers and parents welcome the P.E. test. They say it helps students build up their health.

___________ Students looking for a coffee break will finally find one this year. At Mason High School in Iowa, there is a cafe called Cosmic Cafe. Many students have not only shown interest in buying from the shop but also working there. The Cosmic Cafe sells drinks like lattes, tea and of course, coffee. It has its own logo, T-shirts and other products. But it is more than just a place to get a quick drink or snack—it’s a space for students to get together, relax, socialize and develop new skills. It shows the power of student—led initiatives (主动性) and reminds people to value the sense of community within schools. | |

Boys and girls, let’s do an experiment(实验)in today’s lesson.
Materials:
Instructions:
1.Fill the bowl or glass about 2/3 full with water.
2.Drop the egg carefully into the bowl and watch it going down towards the bottom.
3.Take the egg out and add about 5 spoons of salt. Test to see if your egg goes up.
4.Add more salt if the egg is still at the bottom.
The science behind it:
Things go down in the water when they are denser than the water, by adding salt we make the water denser. Once the water is denser than the egg, it goes up.

The class was right in the middle of a math problem. Suddenly, Joe laughed out loud at the back of the classroom. Everyone stopped and looked at him.
“What are you laughing at?” Mr. Steinman.
“Nothing.” Joe answered.
“Joe. Office. Now,” Mr. Steinman became angry.
“Fine, I’d rather be there anyway.” Joe said.
“I’ll be calling home after school, too,” Mr. Steinman said.
“Ask my mom to buy pizza for dinner when you call,” Joe suggested.
His teacher opened his mouth to reply, but thought better of it. Instead, he continued the maths lesson. Joe took his time to get to the door. He stopped to sharpen his pencil.
“Joe! Get out now. You don’t need your pencil in the office,” Mr. Steinman said.
“I want to be prepared,” he tried to look confused, even though he knew what he was doing was wrong.
Joe left the classroom. Sadly, he didn’t know how to do his homework, which made him sigh (叹气). Then he arrived at the office and sat in his familiar chair, waiting to get shouted at again. Once he got home, he’d be in trouble with his parents, and tomorrow he’d repeat the whole process.
