Many children first learn the value of money by receiving pocket money. Parents often give their children an amount of money that they may spend as they wish. The aim is to let the children learn from experience at an early age when financial (经济) mistakes are not very easily.

A child may receive pocket money each week or each month. The amount is not so important. But parents should make clear what the child should pay for with the money.

At first, young children may spend all of their pocket money soon after they receive it. If they do this, they will learn the hard way that spending must be done within a budget (预算). Parents should not offer more money until the next pocket money is to be given.

Older children may be responsible enough to budget larger costs like those for clothing. The object is to show young people that a budget needs choices between spending and saving.

Many people who have written on the subject say it is not a good idea to pay your child for work around the home. These jobs are a normal part of family life. Paying children to do extra work around the home. However, it can be useful. It can even provide an understanding of how a business works.

Pocket money gives children a chance to experience three things they can do with money.

They can share it in the form of gifts or giving it to Red Cross. They can spend it by buying things they want. Or they can save it.

Saving helps children understand that costly goals require sacrifice (取舍): You have to cut costs and plan for the future. Requiring children to save part of their pocket money can also open the door to future saving and investing (投资). Many banks offer free savings accounts (账户) for young people with small amounts of money.

A stampede always happens in crowded places. When students around you begin to push, just stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around.

When earthquakes happen, you can get under a desk quickly and hold on. It’ll protect you from falling things. If you are   outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees, and power lines.

When there’s a fire, leave the classroom quickly. It’s better to put   something wet over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won’t breathe in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them   cough   and they can’t breathe. That’s very dangerous!   So when you want to get out, you should make yourself close to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air.
