Have you ever tried Irish dancing? It’s a traditional dance with a long history. There are many kinds of Irish dancing, and I do Sean-nos and step dancing. Sean-nos is a free-form(自由创作的) dance. It’s all about dancing to the traditional Irish music to express yourself. Sean-nos has a lot of footwork, and dancers can dance in a relaxed way.

I also do step dancing in a group of eight dancers. In this kind of dance, we move together side by side. We wave our hands over our heads and swing each other around and turn with the music.

Irish dancing is a big part of my life and something I can really be myself. It’s all about doing what I love to do. It has also given me wonderful (A) opportunities. Last summer we traveled to Ireland for a big dance competition.

The competition was for kids all the way up to 18 years old. I was in the Year 7-12 group. It was really exciting to be there, though we didn’t win a prize in the competition. (B) That wasn’t important to me. The only reason I dance is that I love it.

People in Britain enjoy their holidays in different ways. They spend a lot of their free time at home. Many of them have pets. They like playing with their pets in their free time. The most popular activity is watching TV because they watch TV for about 25 hours a week. They often record (录制) programs so that they can watch them later.

In summer, gardening is popular. And families often have free time on the weekend. They often go to a festival or see a show. Young people like to go to clubs, and people of all ages like to go to the cinema.

In winter, “do it yourself ” is popular. People make full use of their free time by repairing houses. Some free time activities are with friends. People usually ask their friends for a drink or a meal at home. More and more British people like to eat out. In 2021, British people spent 10 dollars each week eating outside on average (平均).

On the weekend, British people like to do sports. The popular kinds of sports are soccer, horse racing, swimming, tennis and mountain climbing.

The 1970s marked the start of modern graffiti (涂鸦) in big US cities. In New York, young people wrote their names on walls around the city.

One of the first graffiti artists was a teenager named Demetrius. His tag (标记) was TAKI 183. It wasn’t long before other teenagers started copying him, and soon there were tags on walls, buses and trains all over New York.

Later, some teenagers began to use spray paint (喷漆) to write their tags. During the 1970s and 1980s, tags became bigger and more colorful. Then the 1990s and 2000s saw the rise of graffiti artists. Some painted political statements, and others aimed to make cities more beautiful by painting large colorful pictures.

However, in some countries, this is a crime, which has led to some artists having problems with the police. In other countries, artists have been given space to paint freely. For example, in Bristol, UK, there is a yearly street art festival in August, where artists can paint all the buildings on a chosen street.

Slowly, the craft of street art is becoming more respected in today’s art world, and some works are now on display at top art galleries in LA, London, and Paris.
