School uniforms are common in primary and secondary schools in many countries. Here’s a list of countries below.
In Brazil, students wear uniforms in private schools. But in public schools, students don’t have to wear uniforms although they might have one. In general, the uniforms are a pair of blue pants and a white T-shirt with the school symbol printed on it.

When the teacher asks a question in class, Tan Bin never puts up his hand. The 15-year-old Beijinger always waits for other classmates or the teacher to give the answer. "What if my answer is wrong?" Tan asks.
Tan is one of the students who don't put their hands up to answer teachers' questions. A middle schools, this is very easy to see.
Tan told us that in his class of 53 students, only six or seven put up their hands when a question is asked. "I think it's a problem that might affect (影响) our studies, but I am afraid of doing wrong before my classmates," he said.
Experts and teachers have found this problem. Hu Wei, a math teacher from No.7 Middle School, showed some possibilities about why students don't put their hands up: they are short of confidence (自信), they're afraid of showing off , or they're afraid of losing face by giving a wrong answer.
To encourage (鼓励) students to put up their hands in class, Hu suggests(建议) that teachers should say the question again, then try to guide and encourage students to give their answers. Hu also suggests that students should be active in class. It helps to understand (理解) better.
Wang Ping,16 of Fujian, always puts up her hand as soon as she comes up with the answer, even if she isn't sure she has gotten it right.
Wang can't understand why some of her classmates keep silent (安静) in class. She enjoys putting up her hand a lot. "It keeps me confident to express my ideas. "Sun said. "Putting up my hand has really made me a top student."
