When you travel to different countries, you’ll find that people have different habits of giving directions(方向).
【小题1】. In Japan, people often use landmarks(地标)instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, “Go along and turn left at the big hotel. Then go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop.”
【小题2】. In Kansa, America, people will tell you directions and distance. For example, people will say, “Go north two miles(英里). Turn east, and then go another mile.
【小题3】. People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions because few visitors understand the Greek language. A Greek will often say, “Follow me.” Then he or she will lead you to the place.
【小题4】. Sometimes if a person doesn’t know the answer to your question, he or she might say, “Sorry, I have no idea.” But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers, “I don’t know.” They usually give an answer, often a wrong one. A visitor can often get lost in Yucatan!
【小题5】. You might not understand a person’s words, but maybe you can understand his body language. He or she will usually turn and then point in the correct direction. Go in that direction, and you may find the place.
