The only language that seems easy to learn is the mother tongue. We should remember that we all learned our own language well when we were children. If we could learn English in the same way, it would not seem so difficult. Think of what a small child does. He listens to what people say. He tries what he hears.
So it is hard to say that learning English is easy. We must do a lot of practice. And practice needs great efforts and takes much time. Good teachers, record, tapes, books, and dictionaries will be helpful, but they cannot do the student’s work for him.

On a bitter cold Sunday morning just outside New York City, a group of women—all moms, many strangers to one another—gathered for their very first group scream(尖叫). Jessica Kline, the publisher of Macaroni KID Clifton-Montclair, organized the mom screaming event in her community.
Two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, filled with stresses because of jobs, childcare, school disruptions(中断), and new viruses, have left many parents tired and bored. A CBS News survey finds nearly half of moms report they are experiencing a hard time, and many working moms had to leave their jobs.
Kline told reporter Meg Oliver that over the last two years, she’s often felt tired and stressed. When the pandemic started, she had three children under the age of six at home, “My house felt smaller,” she said. “I just felt like there was no place to go.”
As the women gathered and screamed, these bad feelings poured out. They got a great sense of relief. “I love my kids dearly, but it is nice to just be able to go and be in a community of moms,” one mom laughed and said.
Psychologist Lisa Damour said the screaming event can be a healthy way to relax for moms. “It offers relief. It’s important to talk about the bad sides of parenthood, to make moms feel less alone and ashamed,” she said.
The moms hoped this was just the beginning of the gatherings in their community. Kline said, “It’s difficult for moms to balance parenthood and self-care. I hope they all walk away with a sense of self-care and a happy memory, even if it’s just for a little bit.”
