Many people in China like animals and usually keep some of them as their pets. These pets can bring people a lot of fun.

People in the UK are pet lovers（爱好者）, too. Lots of families in the UK have one or two pets. Dogs are their favorite pets. Cats are the second. And birds are the third. But some families don’t like keeping dogs, cats or birds. They keep other special animals as their pets in their homes, like tigers, elephants and snakes.

English people always look after（照料）their pets very well. They usually give them lovely names, let them wear beautiful clothes and feed them delicious food. They usually buy the food in some pet shops. Sometimes the food really needs much money. Many pets have their own houses, beds, meals and bowls. When people talk about their pets, they usually say “he” or “my son” or “she” or “my daughter”. They never say “it”.

Streetball is a city game. People play it on playgrounds and in gyms around the world.

Usually only one side of the court is used in the streetbal, but the rules of the game are almost the same as basketball games. The number of players in a game may be only 2, and it is called one-to-one. Sometimes there are also two teams of five players each. It is easy for you to join a streetball game. You only need to go to an outdoor court. If there are some teams playing, and they agree to let you take part in, then you have a chance to join any team.

Streetball is a very popular game in the world, and it is very popular with the young people. Some cities in the United States even have streetball programs on TV. It is said (据说) that this is a good way for young people to keep away from troubles such as crimes (犯罪) and drugs (毒品).

A Chinese saying (谚语) says, “The weather in June is like a baby’s face.” It means the weather always changes suddenly (突然地). In English, there is also a saying. “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb (羔羊).” What does it mean?

March is a month between winter and spring. It “comes in like a lion”. Why? Because the month begins with winter weather like wind and cold days. At the end of March, spring is on the way. The weather gets warm. So we say it “goes out like a lamb”.

If March begins with warm weather and clear days, people should be careful of bad weather at the end of the month.
