What will the school in the future look like? It is not clear, but most people agree that the future school will go electronic(电子的).

Computers will become very important. Each student will have a computer. Everything will be in the computer and students will not need to bring books to school. Students will find information on the Internet. A computer will be students’ library, schoolbag and connection(连接) to the outside world. There will be robot teachers. They will check homework on computers and communicate(交流) with students’ parents through e-mails.

School buses will be like spaceships. Games will be digital(数字的). A special computer will teach P. E. classes. The uniform will be very casual(随意的). There will be nurses in every school to look after sick students. There will be strict robots to make students work. The work may be hard or easy, but students will have to do it. Students’ work will be done on computers. School food will be very healthy and delicious.

Scientists want to bring back a mammoth—an ancestor (祖先) of the elephant. It became extinct (灭绝的) 4,000 years ago. The idea to bring it back to life is like something from the movie Jurassic Park. Scientists will use the DNA from mammoth bones to clone the giant animal. It would be the first time since the Ice Age for a mammoth to walk on Earth. The lead scientist is from Harvard. He is an expert (专家) in editing DNA and genes.

Ben Lamm, a businessman working on the project, said, “Our goal is to have our first mammoth in the next four to six years.” He gave $15 million to this research and he is sure that the research will improve biotechnology (生物技术) and health care. He said the project was like the Apollo missions to the moon.

CHANGSHA--China’s first way for smart driving buses on open roads began its trial operation (试运行) in Changsha on Friday. The test bus line is 7.8 km long with 22 stations on the two-way trip. During the trial operation, four smart driving buses will be put into use. They need to pass through traffic lights, make turns and stop at the stations. One of the smart driving buses successfully finished the whole trip. It went along the planned road on Friday morning without a driver.

CHONGQING--The first Reading and Writing Project with Famous Writers on Campus is going on at Chongqing No.1 Middle School on December 14th and 15th. The school invited ten famous writers like Bi Feiyu, Ouyang Jianghe and Li Er. They had a talk with the teachers and students about how to improve their reading and writing skills. Both the writers and the listeners said they learned a lot because of the activity.
