Young children don’t have the skills or knowledge to stay safe in heavy traffic. The following tips（忠告）will be helpful for you to keep your children safe in heavy traffic.

①Children learn about road safety by watching others. As parents, make sure that you always set good examples. Your children will follow you and think it’s OK to do like you.

Teach your children to pay attention to traffic lights when you cross the road together with them. This helps them understand when it’s safe to cross. Make sure that you walk between your children and traffic, and hold their hands all the time.

When your children are a little older, you can start to tell them the importance of traffic knowledge. Let them start to understand the reasons why they need to be so careful. Talk with them about road signs and traffic rules.

Each year several thousand people are killed on the road in Great Britain. Every year between one and two hundred thousand people are injured, or killed in road accidents.

If you are in England and if you listen to the eight o’clock news from BBC, you will often hear news of road accidents. You may hear something like this: “On last Monday evening, at about twenty minutes to ten, a cyclist was knocked down by a truck at crossing of Oak Road and High Street in Croydon. The cyclist had died from his injuries. Anyone who saw the accident please communicate with New Scotland Yard, telephone number Whitehall one, two, one, two.”

Accidents are often caused by carelessness. If everybody obeys the rules, the roads will be much safer. How can we make the road safer?

In Great Britain traffic keeps on to the left. Motor-cars, trucks, buses and cyclists must all keep to the left side of the road. In most other countries traffic keeps to the right.

Before crossing the road, stop and look both ways. Look right, look left, look right again. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, and there is nothing coming, it is safe to cross the road. If you see small children, or very old people, or blind people waiting to cross the road, it is kind to help them to cross the road in safety.

We must teach young children to cross the road safely and set them a good example so that there will be fewer and fewer accidents and our life will be safer.

Traffic rules help to keep order on the road. They also help to keep people safe . Traffic accidents killed more than 104,000 people in China last year. As we all know there are more cars than before. So drivers and pedestrians (行人) must work together to make the roads much safer .
The pedestrian(行人) has as many rules to follow as the drivers . You should walk on the sidewalk(人行道) on the road. Always look carefully before you walk across the street.
If you often ride a bike, don’t ride in the middle of the road or run through red traffic lights. When you ride a bike with a friend, don’t look around or talk.
Drivers should slow down at the traffic lights. And the driver and passengers must alwayswear seat belts (安全带). Without seat belts ,they may be badly hurt in a sudden accident.
You must be careful if you have to travel in a bus . Get on or get off a bus only after it stops . When it is full, don’t try to get inside, or you may fall off.
Traffic rules are road safety rules. Please remember the famous saying “Thinking about others”.

When you drive, there are some things you must do and some things you mustn’t do. For example, when you come to a traffic light, a red light means you must stop. A green light means you can go if it is safe.

There are also lots of traffic signs you must understand. For example, when there is a stop sign, you must stop, and then you must look carefully. You mustn’t continue to drive, because it is not safe. When you see a no-entry (禁止进入) sign, you mustn’t turn into that road.

If you see a keep-left sign, you must drive to the left of it, not to the right. A speed limit (限速) sign, for example, 70 kph, means you mustn’t go faster than 70 kph, but you can go more slowly. Safe driving.
