If a person lost an arm, how could he still play basketball well? Zhang Jiacheng, a 13-year-old boy from Guangdong, made it and surprised everyone.
Zhang’s right arm was cut off in an accident when he was five. It was a very sad event for a little kid. But Zhang was more optimistic than his parents at that time. From eating and getting dressed on his own, he learned to live with one hand. He also did well in school and helped his family with the housework.
Zhang first discovered his love for basketball when he had a basketball class in 2018. Soon, he was seldom without a ball in his hand. No matter it was rainy or windy, he never stopped playing basketball. He even practiced dribbling (运球) the ball at home.
After a short video of the teenager(青少年) playing a one-on-one competition was shared online, Zhang soon became well known. The young boy was playing basketball really well, some people even didn’t realize he had only one arm. The video caught the attention of NBA player Stephen Curry. “Keeping doing you and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t,” said Curry after watching the video.
“I am very excited that I have received much attention,” said Zhang. “My biggest dream is to become a basketball player. With the encouragement from all these people, I’ll do better and better.”
