Do you like traveling? If you travel to some parts of Thailand and you are lucky enough, the guides(向导), monkeys, may serve you. The monkeys are always ready to help you. When you are 【小题1】 you only have to point at your own stomach (肚子) and they will show you to a restaurant. 【小题2】 you are tired, put your hands behind your head and the monkeys will take you to a hotel. Don't surprised when they put their hands in front of you after 【小题3】 you. They just hope you can give 【小题4】 a little money as a tip. After they get the money, they'll wave(挥)their hands to say 【小题5】.

Believe it or not, these monkeys are graduates(毕业生)from the School for Monkeys in Thailand, and they got trained(训练)【小题6】 one year in the school. These monkey students are not the only ones in the world. Some are now being trained as 【小题7】at an American medical college(医学院). These monkeys will 【小题8】after patients(病人)in hospital after they graduate from school.

Mike and Dave are walking through the woods one day when they find a big, deep hole. Mike takes a look at 【小题1】 and says, “Wow! That looks deep.” They throw some pebbles（鹅卵石）and wait. There 【小题2】 no sound. Then Mike sees a big log（木头）. He gets 【小题3】 idea. “Help me carry that log,” he says to Dave. The two of them pull the heavy log and drop it in. Still, no sound.

Suddenly, a goat shows up, running like the wind. It rushes toward the two men 【小题4】 then right past them. Suddenly it leaps（跳跃）into the air and down the hole. Mike and Dave look at each other. “What just happened?” asks Dave. Before Mike can answer, a farmer comes. “Hey, 【小题5】 you guys seen my goat?” Mike says, “You bet we did! Craziest thing I ever saw. It came running like crazy and jumped into that hole!”

“Nah,” says the farmer. “That couldn’t have been my goat. My goat was chained（被链条拴住）to a big log.”

Have you petted a dog 【小题1】（recent）? If that dog touched you with its nose, you were probably 【小题2】（surprise）at how cold it was. If dogs are so warm and fluffy（毛茸茸的）, then 【小题3】 are their noses so cold?

In the past, people thought that dogs had cold noses to help 【小题4】（they）control their body temperature. However, 【小题5】 new study has shown some interesting findings about dogs’ noses.

The researchers believed that the tip（尖端）of a dog’s nose has a specific sensory function（探测功能）. So, they did an experiment 【小题6】（test）it. The research team studied three dogs. For the experiment, the dogs had to tell the difference 【小题7】 two objects that were heated to different temperatures. All three dogs 【小题8】（be）able to sense the temperature difference in the experiment.

The study also found that the heat from the objects was so weak that it couldn’t be felt by human hands. The dogs could sense the objects from a distance, but humans couldn’t feel the 【小题9】（warm）of the object until they touched it.

The research team also studied the brain activity of 13 dogs. When a warm object 【小题10】（put）near their noses, there was a rise in brain activity.

“From the two experiments, we can say that dogs can sense heat from warm-blooded animals, use this information for hunting, and that a specific region（区域）of the brain is activated（激活）by such heat, ” said Anna Balint, the lead author of the study.
