Since the World Mental Health Day (世界精神卫生日) started on October 10th, 1992, more people have begun to pay attention to their mental health. So the mental health day is becoming more popular.             

What is a mental health day?

“In addition to the World Mental Health Day, it’s important for people to take regular (定期的) mental health days for themselves,” says Doctor David A. Merrill. “The mental health day is a way to give yourself a break and pay attention to your mental health. It can be any day.”

“Mental health days are important for people of all ages and can be done differently,” says Cheryl Rode. “You can go for a trip outdoors, make your favourite meal, turn down your computer, or do some exercise. No matter what you choose to relax, the key is to do it often.”

First of all, it can help you stay healthy. When you are taking a mental health day, you have time to focus on what your body really needs. You will eat slowly and healthily. Secondly, you can sleep better. One of the first signs (症状) of poor mental health is poor sleep. What you should do is have a relaxing day and drink a glass of warm milk before sleeping. More importantly, you’ll have a better relationship with others.
