Brooke has just turned 12, with seven world records. She is one of the best rock climbers in the world. Brooke comes from a climbing family. Both her parents are just past climbing champions (冠军）. Her father stopped climbing some years ago, but her mother, Robyn, who won four world cups, is still climbing. She runs a club for young climbers in Colorado, USA and coaches Brooke and her teammates. Sometimes it’s difficult for mother and daughter to work together so closely, but they really respect and trust each other and Brooke says her mom is a great coach. Brooke says that her mother gives her a lot of good advice and it is a very important part of her climbing life. Robyn can be strict, but she is also passionate (热诚的）about climbing, and she passes on this passion（热情）to her students.

Robyn says Brooke has very good strong wills (意志）and is very good at making herself want to practice. This helps her when she’s facing the challenges of this difficult sport. She is also very hard-working. Success in rock climbing is something she has to work on. To be a world-class player of any kind, you have to push yourself and train hard and that’s what Brooke does every day, at the club and at home. Brooke says that climbing is always there in their lives. They even have a climbing wall in their house!

But climbing isn’t only hard work. It’s fun, too. Brooke loves climbing and when she’s on a high rock, she feels happy. Strangely, she says that when she looks down, she isn’t scared. All she does is to think how cool it is to be small compared to the rock.

There are so many people I want to thank. But I want to thank my parents best.

I usually go to school at 7:00 a.m. My mom always gets up at 6:00 a.m. to cook healthy and nice food for me. But I sometimes complain(抱怨) and want to eat outside with my friends. My mom always tells me, “The food outside is not healthy. Eating at home is good for you.” Now I know it. Dear Mom, my health is the most important to you.

My parents always buy me my favorite things. I like strawberries(草莓) very much. My dad likes to buy strawberries for me. But when I want to give him strawberries, Dad says, “Oh, I don’t like strawberries, my girl.” I didn’t know why my dad said that before. But now I know it. Dear Dad, you like strawberries, but you like me more.

My parents are always with me and do many things for me. I can’t do many things for you, but I want you to have happy and healthy lives!

One Sunday afternoon, my friend and I sat on the beach chairs and watched our girls playing by the water.

Suddenly, the girls all ran away. About fifty meters from us, the girls stood next to a middle-aged man and watched him fishing. He smiled at them. All the girls ran back to us — all except my three-year-old daughter, Anna.

"Anna! Come here! Play with your friends!" I shouted. These days, many parents heard of terrible stories about children being taken away by strangers(陌生人).Good mums should teach their daughters that the world is not a safe(安全) place. So I felt a little better when Anna finally ran to me. Then she took up a shovel(铲子) and looked me, "I want to be with that man."

She ran back and sat down next to him. I watched my daughter, Anna, to make sure she was safe.

A few seconds later, she ran back to us, waving something shiny.

It was a toy fish — yellow and rubber. This was what he used for fishing. And he gave it to Anna. As the other three girls saw it, ▲ . "My friend gave me that fish!" Anna shouted loudly. The girls ran after each other with a yellow rubber fish flying through the air.

Suddenly, the man walked to us with three more rubber fish. He gave them to each of the girls. "Thank you," they said quickly.

"Thank you," I said, knowing that there are lessons for mothers to learn that only three-year-old could teach them.
