At Sunshine Middle School, every boy in Grade Seven becomes a gentleman on school’s Gentlemen’s Day. It is always on the second Tuesday of October. This year it is on 7 October.

On that day, boys must be like gentlemen. The day starts at 8 o’clock in the morning. Boys all dress well and welcome girls at the school gate. After that, they try to make the girls feel like “queens (女王)”. They do many things like opening doors and carrying things for girls. And they say “after you” when they get into the classroom.

Students and teachers like the activity. Tom Web, a teacher at the school, says this is a start for boys to learn how to respect (尊重) girls.

Parents like the activity too. Mrs. Smith, Jane’s mother, thinks it is good for students’ lives.

Have you heard about "Survival (生存) Holidays"? "Survival Holidays" is for children to go into the lonely place for exciting activities. Now about 1,100 companies are allowed to take children outdoors without their parents.

The reason why people like "Survival Holidays" is that they think being close to nature is good for children. Many children in big cities spend all time watching TV and playing computer games. "Survival Holidays" gives them an important change.

Is "Survival Holidays" a wonderful idea? Maybe it is. Children need more free time to play. They need to be left on their own, without adults disturbing (打扰) them. Parents care too much about their children. They like to see the children being busy with activities that are controlled by adults, but children don't know what to do when they are in danger. Even something like crossing a small river seems to be a hard challenge. Children are not comfortable with danger. Even small danger like getting their feet wet or falling down seems very terrible to them.

Many people think the survival activities are good for children. Even years later, they'll still remember what they have learned. Some have learned to stay calm in different situations. Some have learned how to keep safe. Others have learned how to work in a team. All these skills will help them a lot in their lives.

My favorite month is May, because three are many events in this month. May 1^stis Labor Day（劳动节）. We have a three-day holiday. We can watch TV, see our friends or stay at home. We have an Art Festival on May 8^thin our school. We like it very much. We like to show our pictures and writing. May 12^this my good friend Linda’s birthday. We have a big birthday party for her every year. On May 20^th, we have an English party. We often have it in the evening. We have a singing contest in our classroom on May 28^th. It’s very interesting.
