What do people often do when they travel(旅行) by train? Most people may look at their phones. But now people in London can do something different—they can have yoga(瑜珈) class on the train.

Last month, Heathrow Express in London asked a yoga teacher to give yoga class to help passengers(乘客) relax. It’s the first time that passengers can have yoga class on a moving train. It is a free 12-minute class on the 15-minute trip. People of all ages can do some breathing(呼吸) exercises and body stretches(伸展) when they are sitting on their seats.

_______ “I usually look at my phone on the train,” said Joe, a passenger from London, that took the Heathrow Express train today. “But today, I put it down and enjoyed the peace(宁静) that comes from within. The yoga class made my day.”

A study shows that more than half of their passengers found travel stressful in the COVID-19 pandemic(疫情). “We hope our yoga class can make passengers feel relaxed,” said a yoga teacher.

Traveling can be very tiring. There’s always a lot going on and a lot to think about. But don’t forget: Traveling can also be peaceful. On your next train or subway ride, try taking a deep breath and doing some yoga stretches. You may feel much more relaxed.

Many of you have probably had this experience: You get on a train and are ready to take a rest or read a book, only to find that the passenger in front of you is watching a TV show on his pad without earphones. Wish the train could be less noisy? There might be good news for you. The Bejing-Shanghai high- speed rail lines will have “quiet” carriages(车厢) starting from Dec 23.

In quiet carriages, videos on the train will be kept quiet and notices will be given at a lower volume (音量). Doors at the end of the carriage will be kept closed to reduce noise from other carriages. Train workers will make sure that passengers remain quiet and follow the rules. Passengers who promise to follow the rules can choose the quiet carriages when book ing their tickets.

Although many Internet users are in favor of the new service, there has also been a hot discussion. Some people have pointed out that this kind of quiet environment should be offered in all carriages because having quiet carriages might make people feel that they don’t need to be quiet in non - quiet carriages. Besides, people just wonder how quiet they should be in quiet carriages and they may have questions such as “What if I snore(打呼噜)?” and “Can we talk to our friends if we need to?”

How do you go to work? Ride a bike? Take a bus? Take a car? Swim across river? In the city of Xishan, the Bingjiang river has become a famous swimming place, because some people swim along with their own things in the river to go to work.

To get from point A to point B, people in Xishan don’t just swim with their clothes on, but instead pack (打包) their own things into the special bag. This bag will keep everything dry until they reach their destinations (目的地).

“I use 5 minutes walking from my home to the river. And I only use 10 minutes to swim across the river and 5 minutes to walk to my office. I have a special swim bag which I can put all my things in. But I used one hour to go to work by bus before.” Li Hua, a local says.

The traditional traffic tools like cars and buses not only cause heavy traffic but also produce too much pollution in our daily life. Maybe it’s time for us to change our ways to go to work.
