The world needs love and many people are in need of our help. Several years ago, my teacher asked me to 【小题1】 (加入)a program that helps those who are disabled. Each week, I spent an hour in the classroom helping 【小题2】schoolwork, art project, games and other activities, including eating.
At first, I thought it would be nervous to be with the children who are so different, but gradually I found there’s something special about these students. So there was no need 【小题3】 (担心)it. Each Thursday I was welcomed 【小题4】 the smiling faces of Thomas, Joey and Missy. Thomas has to sit in the wheelchair. He communicates with simple words 【小题5】 yes or no. Joey, a deaf girl, always welcomed me with a big s【小题6】 . Missy 【小题7】(天生)a kind of illness and it makes her really small for her age.
As we all know, in a normal classroom, it would be c【小题8】 to hear a teacher blame(责备)a child who is tapping his pencil, speaking 1【小题9】 , or making unnecessary noises. However, here, shouts, cries and other noises are always e【小题10】 . They’re signs of excitement and different w【小题11】 of communicating.
As time went by, I 【小题12】 (习惯于)helping those children little by little. Working with children with special needs has changed my life. It has made me notice others’ needs and get happiness from helping them. One of my teachers says that we should be part 【小题13】 something bigger than ourselves. I never 【小题14】 [ˈriːəlaɪzd] how true this was until I worked with these children. I believe everyone should get out and do something that 【小题15】 (有影响).
