I am Nick. My parents have a new baby. She has brown hair and blue eyes. Though（虽然）the color of her eyes is the same as mine, I don’t like her.

I live with my parents, my grandparents and the girl in a big house. The new girl’s name is Chloe. She often cries（哭）at night. I can’t sleep well because of her. And my parents look after（照顾）Chloe all the time. Sometimes I think my parents forget（忘记）I am also in the family.

Now Chloe is sleeping（睡觉）. My mother and I are in the bedroom. My mother says, “Dear, I know you are a little jealous. But remember（记住）your father and I love you all the time.” I look at my mother and I can see the love in her eyes.

Well, maybe it isn’t so bad to have a baby sister. I will（将）be a good brother and love my new sister.

Do you like flowers? Have you ever planted any flowers? What kind did you plant?

There was once company in the United States that announced that it would offer a large amount of money to anyone who could find white marigold (金盏花). Most marigolds are either golden or brown. It is very hard to find a white one.

Twenty years later, the company received a letter from an old woman. She sent 100 white marigold seeds (种子) along with the letter.

The woman was a fan of flowers. When she first heard the company’s announcement 20 years ago, she got very excited. She thought she could grow her own white marigolds. But her children doubted her. She knew nothing about seed genetics (遗传学), after all. So her dream of growing white marigolds was just that—a dream.

Still, she worked to make it happen. She planted some common marigold seeds and took good care of them. A year later, when the marigolds bloomed, she chose one of the faintest (最淡的) flowers and took its seeds. She planted these seeds and waited another year for them to bloom.

Day after day, year after year, through many seasons, her life changed. Her husband died, her children moved away, and many other things happened. But her hope to grow white marigolds remained strong in her heart.

Finally, after 20 years, she went out to her garden and found a marigold that was not just white—it was as white as the purest (纯净的) snow.

Be persistent (执着的), be patient and you will go far, as white marigolds can be grown in the end.
