After the summer vacation, I went on doing some exercise,just walking near my house early in the morning. 【小题1】What I did next was to open my cell phone and write the facebook signature（脸书签名）like”Good morning, people.” What I wrote was just a greeting（问候）.【小题2】I got up early and went to the place where I did walking, and a special thing happened（发生）to me. 【小题3】I wondered why on the same day so many people greeted me. It was a cold and snowy morning after the winter holiday. In fact, it was my first day at my new school. I was walking slowly and worrying about lots of things. It was 7:00 in the morning and there weren’t many people on the road. A girl on a bike passed me quickly. She was riding on ice when suddenly she fell off her bike a few steps(步) in front of me. She was trying hard to get up but fell once more. Without thinking, I went over and helped her stand up. She said, “Thank you,” with a smile and then rode away. The words “Thank you” warmed me and this small thing made me feel less nervous about my new school.

At last, I got to school. The teacher took me to the classroom and asked me to sit down beside a girl. I knew some of the students were looking at me but I was too nervous to look at them. Soon the first class started. It was English. They used a different textbook(课本) from my old school and I didn’t have a copy(复印件). As I was wondering what to do, a book appeared(出现) in front of me. “Let’s share,” the girl next to me said. “And hi, I’m Carrie.” I looked up. It was the girl I helped that morning. What a surprise!

From then on, we became good friends. She was my first and best friend at my new school. Helping her also helped me find a friend.

Once there was a piano player in a bar. People came just to hear him play. But one night, a lady asked him to sing a song.

“I don’t sing,” said the man

But the lady told the waiter, “I’m tired of listening to the piano. I want the player to sing!” The waiter shouted across the room,“ Hey, friend! If you want to get paid, sing a song!”

So he did. He had never sung in the bar before. Now he was singing for the very first time! Nobody had ever heard the song Mona Lisa sung so beautifully!

He had talent he was sitting on! He may have lived the rest of his life as a no-name piano player in a no-name bar. But once he found, by accident, that he could sing well, he went on working hard and became one of the best-known singers in the US. His name was Nat King Cole.

You, too, have skills and abilities. You may not feel that your talent is great, but it may be better than you think.With hard work, most skills can be improved. However, you may have no success at all if you just sit on your talent.
