Jason Porter is one of my closest friends. I still remember the first time I met him. He was giving a speech in front of the whole class, with everyone bursting out【小题1】(laugh). I assumed that he might be【小题2】optimistic and popular boy in the class. My family had to move to this new small city in order to manage【小题3】(financial). Having lost all my old friends, I felt shy and lonely at my new school. There were 60 students in the new class, most of【小题4】weren’t very interested in a shy new boy. However, Jason was quite kind to me and invited me to participate in various activities, 【小题5】 we became good friends soon. Although we both had lots of【小题6】(shortcoming), we trusted each other and shared personal matters. We could see the important part we play【小题7】the lives of each other. Whenever either of us 【小题8】(knock) down by difficulties, we cheered up each other to go on till we felt【小题9】(exhaust).

After graduation, we entered different colleges, but we have been keeping in touch. That’s true friendship. I will cherish【小题10】forever.

Many people have experienced negative consequences as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions. This includes small business owners 【小题1】 were forced to close. However, there has also been a chance for some people to show kindness and shine a ray of hope.

One of my friends 【小题2】 (own) a bakery. Because of the lockdowns (封城), he ran into a 【小题3】 (finance) crisis. He had to shut his shop for months, 【小题4】 (cause) his debts to increase.

My friend had 【小题5】 (previous) rented his apartment to a tailor, but this man also struggled to earn a living due to the impact of COVID. Even after the restrictions were removed, his business was not doing any 【小题6】 (well). Somehow the tailor managed to arrange for the rent to 【小题7】 (pay) to my friend after months. However, my friend refused to take the money. He discovered that the tailor 【小题8】 (sell) one of his machines to pay it. He advised the tailor to buy back his machine 【小题9】 not to worry until the situation had improved.

My friend is now out of debt as the bakery is allowed to do some business through online sales. Though there are some restrictions, he is able to manage his 【小题10】 (earn).   

I feel his kindness gives us all a ray of hope and helps him to clear his debts.

In Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the friendship that forms between Huck Finn and Jim is an important theme of the book, 【小题1】 they appear to be an unlikely pair. Huck is a poor white boy whose father often beats him, while Jim is a black slave who 【小题2】 (long) to be free. One day, Huck runs away from home to an island. There he meets Jim and makes friends with him. Then they leave the island together on a raft 【小题3】 (find) on the Mississippi River. They head towards Illinois, 【小题4】 state in the north, where Jim can be free. In the end, Huck decides that Jim is a friend whom he needs and values, and refuses to give him 【小题7】. From this story we can see that friends are people who support you 【小题8】 thick and thin. Just 【小题9】 Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, the glory of friendship is the spiritual 【小题10】 (inspire) that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him.
