“I am my paintings,” says Vincent van Gogh, played by Willem Dafoe in a career-best performance, in Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity’s Gate, which follows the artist through his last turmoil(动荡骚乱) and astonishingly prolific years in the late 1880s in the south of France. Watching this film, you can believe it.

Schnabel is, of course, a famous artist as well as a powerful, if powerfully uneven, filmmaker, and what he captures here is what it must have been like to be Van Gogh. It’s an artist’s imagining of what another artist might have felt. He never does break away from the romantic, madness-of-genius cliché(陈词滥调) that has been with so many movies and comments about Van Gogh. Instead, he accepts it because he believes it proves the turmoil that goes into creating great art. Of course, turmoil can also create bad art, but such is Schnabel’s enthusiasm that I bought into the reality even though I think Van Gogh was a great artist despite rather than because of his mental pain.

I have a bit less sympathy for the ways in which the filmmakers got guess and frank mythmaking into the narrative. But the film comes to a great and sorrowing finish when we hear Vincent’s words, “I thought an artist has to teach a way to look at the rest of the world. Not anymore. Now I just think of my relationship with eternity.” One of the great achievements of this movie is that, in the end, Van Gogh’s words enter into our soul with the same force as the paintings.

The ozone layer serves a very important purpose: it protects Earth from harmful rays from the Sun. It absorbs these rays so they are less powerful when they reach us. A new film and mobile game created for the United Nations are aiming to help young people understand the challenge of protecting the ozone layer.

The new film and mobile game are both called Reset Earth and are set in the year 2084, where three teenagers are trying to find the cause of a deadly disease called “The Grow” . In this alternate reality they discover it’s because humans did not do enough to save the ozone layer by improving products: such as fridges, air conditioners and aerosols. Some of these items use substances that can become greenhouse gases and harm the ozone layer. Thankfully, in real life, people did come together and put rules in place in the 1980s to protect the ozone layer and give it a chance to recover.

The free animated film is being released first, and it tells the story of the three heroes -. Knox, Sagan and Terran - as they travel back to different points in history. The mobile game version of Reset Earth follows on 10 February and will put you in the characters’ shoes for a platform game set in four different “time zone jumps”.

“The protection of the ozone layer cannot be considered a done deal. It must be a continuous effort by us and by future generations,” says Megumi Seki, from the United Nations’ Ozone Secretarial department, which created Reset Earth. “If our children learn about the grim consequences of a ruined ozone layer. . . they will be aware of its importance and protect it. ”

I’ve never been one for Disney movies and other animated movies aimed at kids that are often in theaters now. So deciding to watch Spirited Away, I was feeling pretty unenthusiastic but its glowing reviews and Studio Ghibli’s reputation pushed me to still watch it.

Spirited Away is about a 10 year old girl named Chihiro. While on the way to her new home her parents and she go down an old road. After passing through a tunnel they end up in what seems to be an abandoned town. In the town, her parents find an open food stall and eat the food, saying they can pay the shop owner once they get there. But they turn into pigs! Guided by Haku, who she meets while looking around, she sets off to try and save her parents and return to her own world.

Although it is a children’s film, I found the story to be surprisingly mature (成熟的) and enjoyable. Near the beginning of the story, Chihiro was a bit of a spoiled kid, but she progresses a lot as a character as she meets and interacts with the residents of the spirit world. The movie does a lot to create a sense of mystery and often uses soft world building. The animation is wonderful. It all flows very well and allows for breathtaking scenes that really bring the world to life alongside your imagination. The film has its fair share of twists and turns and was very enjoyable, while I feel that we could benefit greatly from multiple rewatches, which I’d gladly do, in order to get the full experience.

This is a movie I would definitely recommend to all ages. A small note, it does show blood in a few scenes, so if you’re a parent whether or not that’s okay for your child would be up to you. All in all, I feel that despite not being a part of the intended audience, this is an excellent movie that deserves a watch no matter what type of person you are.

The beginning of the Year of the Dragon has foreshadowed a “Song of Ice and Fire” with the emergence of Sora, a text-to-video AI model. Videos generated by Sora display strong consistency when it comes to characters and backgrounds, and support continuous shots of up to 60 seconds, including highly detailed settings and multiple camera angles. 【小题1】

However, film insiders noted that currently, AI-generated 60-second videos cannot support the creation of a full-length movie, and the idea that AI tools will “bomb” the film and television industry is so far unfounded. Meanwhile, experts say not to worry excessively, as the integration of AI will help optimize certain occupations, attract more innovative talents and bring new possibilities to the film and television industry. 【小题2】

From the age of film stock to the digital age, from practical effects to digital effects, from 2D to 3D, Sora, like any technological revolution in the century-long history of film, will improve production efficiency, update production and may even create new genres and trends in filmmaking. 【小题3】 Students learning film production can view Sora as a helpful assistant to unleash their sci-fi imagination.

Facing the panic signals that AI tools will threaten the global film industry, film insiders argued that the fundamental DNA of film is art and that human creativity cannot be replaced. 【小题4】 Many directors, screenwriters, and actors achieve great works by continuously integrating personal emotions and life experiences. This kind of individual creativity cannot be imitated by machines like Sora.

【小题5】 However, just as the invention of printing did not replace literature or the invention of photography did not replace painting, Sora and its subsequent updates and upgrades will not replace film because the core of these art forms is creativity, which is a unique aspect of human thought.

A.With OpenAI’s iteration speed, producing AI videos dozens of minutes long is not far off.
B.It is also likely to be incorporated into film and television education and training in the future.
C.Film and television are closely linked to technological advancements, which stimulate creativity.
D.Sora will undoubtedly prompt changes in existing industrial production and may even replace some jobs.
E.Sora is undoubtedly “more of an opportunity than a challenge” for the global film and television industry.
F.Creativity and film production requires the integration of emotional experiences and individual memories.
G.This implies that with just a text description, ordinary people using Sora may be able to become “great directors”.
