Hello, everyone! I would like to share with you my first travel abroad. Last summer vacation, I, together with several classmates, took part an exchange program with the American school. During our visit, I stayed in host families, that gave us an opportunity to learn about American society. The main part of our program was to experience of the school life. Comparing with Chinese students, American students are more open and active. Besides, they have less homeworks and fewer exams. So we also have a lot in common, like being crazy about NBA. When the visit was over, I make friends with some American students, who became very interested in Chinese culture. The American students also benefited many from the program.

Last week I noticed Jack coughing on our math class. See this, I offered to take him to a clinic. There the doctor asked Jack how he had coughed sometimes for long time. Jack nodded his head immediate. The doctor then wrote a prescription with instruction on how to take the Chinese medicine. When Jack tasted the medicine, he almost brings it up. I comforted him with an old saying “Good medicine for health tastes bitter to the mouth”. Jack managed to swallow them unwillingly. I recently had a bad cold. My Chinese friends suggested that 1 drank some hot water, what made me think of some common home remedies（家庭疗法）back in the US.

When I was about 10, I got the flu, and my mom didn't take me to the doctor. First, she had me to take several hot showers. Then, she told me to put on as many clothing as I could. Before that, I slept under a thick blanket. I was sweating so much that I felt like I’d just taken a bath. Within a day, my flu gone.

This kind of sweating is the common home remedy in the West. Another remedies include drinking ginger soda when you have a stomachache and eat chicken noodle soup when you have a cold.
