There are all kinds of 【小题1】(celebrate) throughout the world. Different countries have different festivals. Being one of the traditional Chinese festivals, it is the grandest and most important festival for Chinese people. Most employees in China have at least seven days off work, 【小题7】(include) three days' legal holiday, while students take one month absence from school. In the past people     【小题8】(observe) the Spring Festival to fight against the monster "Nian" who liked to eat children and domestic animals. The monster was afraid of red color and loud sound.【小题9】, people decorated their houses in red and set off fireworks to frighten it away . The Spring Festival is the time to make everybody happy. La Tomatina is an annual tomato fight festival celebrated in the small town of Bunol in eastern Spain, 【小题1】 it has been a tradition since the 1940s. In the morning, thousands of merry tourists start to line the narrow streets. There is a sense of excitement in 【小题2】 air. Once the fight begins, the crowd rush to the tomato trucks to pick up tomatoes and throw them at each other. People 【小题3】 (catch) up in the fight for about an hour, and by the time it finishes, around 150,000 kilograms of tomatoes cover Bunol.

Cold Food Day, which honors Jiezitui, a hermit (隐士）who lived some 2600 years ago，used to be observed 【小题1】 (wide), but today few Chinese observe it except on and around the mountain on 【小题2】 the hermit lived.

Jiezitui served 【小题3】 an advisor to Chong’er, a prince in the state of Jin. A civil war forced the prince 【小题4】 (leave) Jin and Jie Zitui followed him. 【小题5】, when Chong’er returned and became the ruler of Jin, his followers were rewarded with money, land and official jobs 【小题6】 Jie Zitui was overlooked.

So Jie Zitui chose the life of a hermit on Mt. Mian, where he took care of his elderly mother. Chong’er’s men set fires on Mt. Mian to drive him out of 【小题7】 mountain and then reward him. But Jie and his mother refused and were burned to death. Out of 【小题8】 (sad), Chong’er declared Cold Food Day in honor of him. It 【小题9】 (celebrate) for centuries in China until 【小题10】 (replace) by the more popular Tomb Sweeping Festival, which begins the day after.
