Have you ever imagined your future？ I try to do this all the time． Most of us will follow in our _______footsteps， by this I mean our adult lives will _______resemble the lives we live as children， set by our parents' examples． Have you ever _______and thought about this？ What an awful job it must be to _______a child properly! But， what happens to the children that live _______drugs， alcohol and violence in their childhood？ Where can they find good examples for themselves？

I know of one place that is trying to_______all children． It is the McDowell County D．A．R．E． program in McDowell County North Carolina． Our teachers carry on their shoulders the great_______of teaching kids to just say NO to drugs， alcohol and violence． I am personally acquainted with _______of these things， not because I have ever_______them myself， but because of my dad． He drank， _______drugs and smoked pot （抽大麻）． When I was 7 my mom took me and my sister and ______． I wonder if my dad ever thought about the _______and what this bad decision would lead to when he first started experimenting with drugs and pot at 13． He has been in jail， he can't get a decent job， and he lost his ______． These bad choices also caused him to hurt his children in horrible ways．

I am _______that I have at least one parent to help me make wise decisions， and to teach me right from wrong． I am also _______that the D．A．R．E． program is taught in our schools． One of the most _______things I learned from D．A．R．E． is that a person that has a parent with an addiction problem is more than twice as likely to become addicted themselves， as compared to a person that has no family history of drug ______． I have learned many things through this ______， especially about the consequences of our trying drugs． You could get arrested， hurt yourself or someone else，_______ your life by becoming an addict， or even die． All of these things are terrible， but I can't think of anything _______as a parent than hurting our children and the people that love us． DRUGS DESTROY LIVES! I give the D．A．R．E． program two thumbs up， for all the good things being accomplished．

After ten years of working for a Wall Street bank, I determined to go beyond a nine-to-five job. Scanning advertisements, I learned a financial company was to hire more consultants. With great excitement, I made a(n) ______ with a branch president. That day, it went so well that I was ______ he would hire me on the spot ______ , he told me to come back for 12 more interviews with his top salespeople!

Over the next five months, every one of them ______ me from working as a consultant in finance. “You are better off in a safe nine-to-five job.” “Eighty percent of newcomers fail within their first year.” The more they attacked my dream, the more my stomach ______ . I realized I would have to “fake it till I make it”, though.

Eventually, the last interview with the president came. “You’ve got the job!” he announced, and then added, “On one   ______ that you must resign, participate in our training and take an exam.” I accepted. “It’s 250 questions long and you must pass it without one point lost on the first ______ !”

I nearly choked at the prospect of taking a huge leap of faith into the unknown. However, attracted by this great ______ and the courage I had never had, I ______ hard and said, “I’ll take it.”

As instructed, I cut my lifeline to the bank and leapt into ______ waters. After the training, I took the exam and when the scores were displayed, I let out a loud sigh of ______ .

When I think back to my childhood, I like to recall the super-heroes that filled my Saturday morning cartoon marathons. Wearing my warm pajamas, eyes ________ on the screen, I remember how I ________ those larger-than-life superheroes fighting against enemies and ________ the difficulties. They opened up a world of ________.

As a child, I think we all admire the idea that there are people in this world who can _____ the impossible things--do things that ______ people cannot. Fictional superheroes are usually ____ as the people having extraordinary or superhuman power and are devoted to ________ the public. But，there are real-life heroes ________ there. They don't have fascinating power that we can only ________ of. I am talking about unsung heroes in our ________. The people we often forget, the cashiers at our ________ grocery stores, mechanics who fix our cars，people who cook the food in our local restaurants, daycare workers，those working on the frontline of non-profit organizations, secretaries, and the ________ goes on.

I try to express my ________ every day to the people who make our lives ________, even when we don't realize it. Just everyone in your community is ________ an unsung hero to someone in their lives.

Life is a ________ at times and each of us has a story to tell. Someone else is thankful for less than what you have. An unsung hero of mine who ________ my day was a lady in the line behind me at the grocery store who said," It doesn't matter if the glass is full or empty just be _____ that you have a glass." Having a ________ attitude means showing gratitude towards the people in your life.
